View Article and Find Full Text PDFSince fall 2021, the authors of this study have conducted regular enumerations of the unsheltered populations in three Los Angeles neighborhoods known for having high concentrations of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness: Hollywood, Skid Row, and Venice. In addition to counts, the authors have conducted surveys of unsheltered residents in these same neighborhoods to better understand the characteristics, experiences, and needs of these populations. The results of the first year of this study, known as the Los Angeles Longitudinal Enumeration and Demographic Survey (LA LEADS), were presented in a report published by RAND in 2023.

Background: Globally, guidelines on the introduction of solid foods to a breastfed infant's diet emphasize the importance of iron-rich foods.
Objective: The objective of this study is to report on adherence to Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants (NHTI) guidance on introduction of iron-rich solid foods first in infants living in Canada; and to explore factors associated with adherence using disaggregated data.
Methods: Nationally representative cross-sectional data from the Canadian Community Health Survey annual cycles 2015-2018 from biological mothers delivering an infant in the past 5 years were used (n=7253).

Dietary omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (Dω-3 PUFAs) have been extensively studied and have been proven to offer notable benefits for heart health. Scientific meta-analysis strongly endorses them as potent bioactive agents capable of preventing and managing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Fortification of foods with Dω-3 PUFAs is a potential strategy for enhancing Dω-3 PUFA intake in an effort to continue strengthening public health outcomes.
