β-adrenergic receptors (β-ARs) play a critical role in modulating learning, memory, emotionality, and long-term synaptic plasticity. Recent studies indicate that β-ARs are necessary for long-term potentiation (LTP) induction in the ventral hippocampus under moderate synaptic activation conditions that do not typically induce LTP. To explore potential dorsoventral differences in β-AR-mediated effects, we applied the β-AR agonist isoproterenol (10 μM, 30 min) to dorsal and ventral hippocampal slices, recording field excitatory postsynaptic potentials (fEPSPs) and population spikes (PSs) from the CA1 region.

Volumetric additive manufacturing (VAM) is revolutionizing the field of cell printing by enabling the rapid creation of complex three-dimensional cellular structures that mimic natural tissues. This paper explores the advantages and limitations of various VAM techniques, such as holographic lithography, digital light processing, and volumetric projection, while addressing their suitability across diverse industrial applications. Despite the significant potential of VAM, challenges related to regulatory compliance and scalability persist, particularly in the context of bioprinted tissues.

Background: The pleural cavity represents a unique immunological compartment that can mount inflammatory reactions during infections, after surgery and in chronic immunological diseases. The connection between systemic immune reactions in the blood and local immune reactions in pleural effusions remains unclear. This study provides the first comprehensive immunological characterization of paired blood and pleural effusion samples, utilizing combined cell and cytokine analyses in pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
