Introduction: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a widely-used treatment for end-stage knee osteoarthritis. However, it is common for patients to experience issues with knee joint function and abnormal gait following the surgery. Previous studies have primarily focused on concentric contraction of the quadriceps during TKA, neglecting the potential benefits of eccentric isokinetic training for the hamstrings. This protocol outlines a randomized, single-blind, controlled trial aimed at assessing the impact of eccentric isokinetic training for the hamstring muscles on pain, function, and gait in patients after TKA.

Methods And Analysis: Fifty participants between the ages of 50 and 80 with knee osteoarthritis undergo unilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for the first time. They will be transferred to the rehabilitation department 10-14 days after the operation. The participants are randomly divided into two groups, with 25 participants in each group: the control group and the Hamstring training group. The Control group will receive routine rehabilitation treatment, while the Hamstring training group will receive a combination of routine rehabilitation treatment and isokinetic eccentric training of the hamstring. The intervention will last four consecutive weeks. Both groups will be assessed at three different times: before the intervention, after 4 weeks of intervention, and 4 weeks after the interventions (follow-up). The primary outcome will be functional capacity (TUGT) and Hospital for Special knee Score (HSS). Secondary outcomes will be knee-related health status (isokinetic knee position perception, Peak torque of hamstring strength), pain intensity (Visual analog scale, VAS) and 3D gait analysis.

Discussion: The study aims to provide relevant evidence on the effectiveness of eccentric hamstring muscle contraction training in improving knee joint function and walking function after TKA.

Prospectively collected injury surveillance data are essential for designing and implementing injury prevention programmes. We investigated the incidence, characteristics and patterns of professional football injuries in Qatar, providing details on the most observed injuries' burden. We prospectively recorded individual time-loss injuries and training/match exposure from 17 professional football teams in Qatar during 8 seasons (2014/15 to 2021/22).

Background: Sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) instability can lead to pain, reduced function, and an inability to perform sports and activities of daily living. Reconstruction of the SCJ using hamstring autograft in a figure-of-8 configuration has demonstrated good outcomes at short- and midterm follow-ups, but there is a paucity of literature on long-term outcomes.

Purpose: To evaluate the long-term clinical and functional outcomes after SCJ reconstruction, with a focus on return to sport, instability recurrence, and revision surgery.

Open or arthroscopic repair of hamstring tear requires both hard and soft, posterior and proximal thigh analgesia. Regional injections to completely relieve this unique pain are not available to the best of our knowledge. We present a novel, single injection, performed under ultrasound guidance, that utilizes the deep piriformis space.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether a soccer match affects the rapid force-generating capacity of the hamstring muscles, given their key role in both horizontal ground reaction force production during sprint biomechanics, and in the deceleration of the shank during the late swing phase, where rapid force production is essential owing to time constraints. Therefore, the research objective was to determine soccer match-induced hamstrings residual fatigue and recovery through rate of torque development (RTD) and associated biochemical parameters.

Methods: The recovery kinetics of hamstrings RTD metrics by the 90°:20° test, together with serum biomarkers (creatine kinase, mitochondrial creatine kinase, transaminases, malondialdehyde, irisin), were assessed in 19 male, regional first-division soccer players (age = 20.

The difficulties of rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, subsequent return-to-sport (RTS) let alone achieving pre-injury performance, are well known. Isokinetic testing is often used to assess strength capacities during that process. The aim of the present machine learning (ML) approach was to examine which isokinetic data differentiates athletes post ACL reconstruction (ACLR) and healthy controls.
