Upon the interaction of light with metals, nonthermal electrons are generated with intriguing transient behavior. Here, we present femtosecond hot electron probing in a noveloptical pump/plasmon probe scheme. With this, we probed ultrafast interband and intraband dynamics with 15 nm interface selectivity, observing a two-component-decay of hot electron populations. Results are in good agreement with a three-temperature model of the metal; thus, we could attribute the fast (∼100 fs) decay to the thermalization of hot electrons and the slow (picosecond) decay to electron-lattice thermalization. Moreover, we could modulate the transmission of our plasmonic channel with ∼40% depth, hinting at the possibility of ultrafast information processing applications with plasmonic signals.

The objective of this study was to understand the microstructure, textural properties, and in-vitro starch digestibility of instant fried noodle enriched with cross-linked phosphorylated type 4 resistant wheat starch (CLWRS4). Pasting viscosity results showed that CLWRS4 granule had low swelling and high resistance to rupture during high-temperature steaming and frying. Scanning electron microscopic images showed that instant fried noodles prepared using wheat flours containing 20% and 40% CLWRS4 exhibited denser structure and lower porosity than their respective counterparts.

Background: This study compared the torsional resistance, bending stiffness, and cyclic fatigue resistances of different heat-treated NiTi files for minimally invasive instrumentation.
Methods: TruNatomy (TN) and EndoRoad (ER) file systems were compared with ProTaper Gold (PG). Torsional load, distortion angle, and bending stiffness were assessed using a custom device AEndoS, and toughness was calculated using the torsional data.

This paper reviews recent developments and key advances in terahertz (THz) science, technology, and applications, focusing on 3 core areas: astronomy, telecommunications, and biophysics. In THz astronomy, it highlights major discoveries and ongoing projects, emphasizing the role of advanced superconducting technologies, including superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) mixers, hot electron boundedness spectroscopy (HEB), transition-edge sensors (TESs), and kinetic inductance detectors (KIDs), while exploring prospects in the field. For THz telecommunication, it discusses progress in solid-state sources, new communication technologies operating within the THz band, and diverse modulation methods that enhance transmission capabilities.
