Article Abstract

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the virus named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is a global public health problem in which atypical findings other than the usual fever and respiratory symptoms render early diagnosis and treatment difficult. Cases with atypical clinical and laboratory presentations continue to pose a challenge in the treatment and control of the disease. This case report aims to share our follow-up and treatment experience in a patient considered to have antithrombin III (ATIII) deficiency based on activated clotting time (ACT) levels unresponsive to heparin who was admitted to intensive care unit due to COVID-19-induced cytokine storm associated with extreme D-dimer elevation (>65,000 μg/L).

Purpose: To report the clinical presentation and follow-up, including the optical coherence tomography, angiography and electrophysiology of two individuals from the same family presenting with an isolated retinal dystrophy and optic nerve edema who were diagnosed with ROSAH-like syndrome.

Method: Observational case report of a 55-year-old woman and her 36-year-old son with a genetic analysis of ROSAH, after a long-term follow-up.

Results: Both the mother and her son displayed severe optic nerve infiltration and retinal pigment atrophy with intraocular inflammation, which were not improved by immunosuppressive treatment.

Unlabelled: Osteoporosis, fragility fractures, and bone health optimization share the same pathophysiology, diagnostic tools, risk assessment, and treatments. Grouping them into "Lee's TRIAD" allows surgeons and physicians to collaborate more efficiently, using unified principles and strategies for managing these conditions.

Purpose: The primary goal of osteoporosis management is to prevent fragility fractures, which occur from falls from standing height or less in individuals over fifty.

Choledochal cyst or biliary tract cyst is a pathological condition characterized by abnormal dilation of the hepatobiliary system. In veterinary medicine, case descriptions and histological characterizations of this biliary malformation are scarce, requiring reliance on data from human medicine. A presumptive diagnosis typically involves imaging studies, with histopathological examination required for confirmation.

In this study, the water-energy nexus is investigated throughout coupling the Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) and Low Emission Analysis Platform (LEAP) models under the climate change effects in the Marun basin, Iran. For this purpose, first, the climate change effects on water resources and consumption nodes are calculated under representative concentration pathway (RCP) scenarios from the fifth report of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Artificial neural network (ANN) is used to model river inflow and Cropwat model is used for agricultural water demand in future time (2015-2040).
