January 2025

Neurosurgery Section, Department of Surgery, The Aga Khan Hospital, P. O Box 2289, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Introduction And Importance: Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors, typically arising from extra-adrenal chromaffin cells. We report on a case of a 67-year-old male who was referred to our care with persistent aldosteronism post adrenalectomy. Biochemical failure after surgery is rare after surgery for primary aldosteronism (PA). Persistent hypokalaemia and raised aldosteronism is an indication of treatment failure after surgery.

Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a small-vessel vasculitis characterised by systemic infiltration, with a primary focus on the renal and pulmonary systems. One of its more lethal pulmonary manifestations is diffuse alveolar haemorrhage (DAH), although the spectrum of lung pathology in MPA is vast and calls for immediate immunosuppressive therapy. Our case looks at an older woman initially presenting with MPA-induced rapid progressive glomerulonephritis.

Methods: A total of 117 patients diagnosed with primary frozen shoulder and treated with a single injection of SH, CS, or PRP into the glenohumeral joint under ultrasound guidance at the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022, were included in the study.

Management of stress and anxiety is often listed as the primary motivation behind cannabis use. Human research has found that chronic cannabis use is associated with increased basal cortisol levels but blunted neuroendocrine responses to stress. Preclinical research has demonstrated mixed effects of Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC; the psychoactive constituent of cannabis), much of which is suggestive of dose-dependent effects; however, the predominance of this work has employed an injection method to deliver cannabis.
