Differentiated service delivery (DSD) models in resource-limited settings have reduced strain on health services and improved client experience, retention and viral suppression, but little is known about the impact of HIV DSD models on quality of life (QoL), which is essential for optimizing person-centered care. This study assessed the impact of DSD models on QoL, loss to follow-up (LTFU), and mortality among persons living with HIV (PLHIV) on ART over time at a large urban HIV clinic in Uganda. We analyzed records of 1,000 PLHIV who had been on ART for 10 years and followed up for eight years, starting in 2014 or 2015 at the Infectious Diseases Institute clinic in Kampala, Uganda.

Purpose: Current technologies to define the zone of acute peripheral nerve injury intraoperatively are limited by surgical experience, time, cumbersome electrodiagnostic equipment, and interpreter reliability. In this pilot study, we evaluated a real-time, label-free optical technique for intraoperative nerve injury imaging. We hypothesize that fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIm) will detect a difference between the time-resolved fluorescence signatures for acute crush injuries versus uninjured segments of peripheral nerves in sheep.

Skin-to-skin contact between the mother and baby during the first hour after birth has significant benefits for mother, newborn and breastfeeding. However, optimal implementation is highly variable. The 2023 International Guidelines on skin-to-skin contact in the first hour after birth place high confidence in the evidence that immediate, continuous, uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact should be routine for all mothers and all babies over 1000 g, regardless of mode of delivery.

Background: The introduction of transcatheter procedures has focused on patient expectations for treatments with a less invasive approach and faster recovery. The aim of this study was to assess the short- and medium-term results in patients who underwent trans-axillary mitral valve repair with application of the ultra-fast-track protocol.
Methods: Data from 431 patients undergoing isolated trans-axillary mitral valve repair or associated with tricuspid valve treatment between January 2018 and December 2023 were prospectively collected.
