Kawasaki disease (KD) is an inflammatory condition more common in children but rare in adults, where diagnosis can be challenging due to nonspecific symptoms. Background: The pleural cavity represents a unique immunological compartment that can mount inflammatory reactions during infections, after surgery and in chronic immunological diseases. The connection between systemic immune reactions in the blood and local immune reactions in pleural effusions remains unclear. This study provides the first comprehensive immunological characterization of paired blood and pleural effusion samples, utilizing combined cell and cytokine analyses in pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Background And Objectives: Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) associated disease (MOGAD) is an antibody-mediated inflammatory demyelinating disorder of the CNS with varied presentations like optic neuritis (ON), transverse myelitis, and cortical encephalitis. This study aims to highlight the significance of low MOG IgG antibody positivity and its diagnostic implications in a real-world cohort.
Methods: In this retrospective observational study, serum and CSF from suspected MOGAD cases were tested at a tertiary healthcare centre's Neuroimmunology Laboratory.

The aim of this single-centre retrospective observational study was to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of an in-class combination therapy switch from bosentan plus sildenafil to ambrisentan plus tadalafil in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Children aged over 5 years who were established on sildenafil plus bosentan were offered to undergo a therapy switch from May 2014 to May 2021 and, if remaining in the service, followed up to May 2024. Children with Eisenmenger syndrome, open intra or extra-cardiac shunt, or with pulmonary hypertension-associated lung disease were excluded.
