Magnesium is a recent addition to the plasmonic toolbox: nanomaterials that efficiently utilize photons' energy due to their ability to sustain localized surface plasmon resonances. Magnesium nanoparticles protected by a native oxide shell can efficiently absorb light across the solar spectrum, making them a promising photocatalytic material. However, their inherent reactivity toward oxidation may limit the number of reactions in which Mg-MgO can be used. Here, we investigate the stability of plasmonic Mg-MgO core-shell nanoplates under oxidative conditions. We demonstrate that the MgO shell stabilizes the metallic Mg core against oxidation in air at up to 400 °C. Furthermore, we show that the reactivity of Mg-MgO nanoplates with water vapor (3.5 vol % in N) decreases with temperature, with no oxidation of the Mg core detected from 200 to 400 °C. This work unravels the potential of Mg-MgO nanoparticles for a broad range of catalytic transformations occurring in oxidative environments.

In this study, a simple and easy synthesis strategy to realize the modification of AuHgPt nanoalloy materials on the surface of ITO glass at room temperature is presented. Gold nanoparticles as templates were obtained by electrochemical deposition, mercury was introduced as an intermediate to form an amalgam, and then a galvanic replacement reaction was utilized to successfully prepare gold-mercury-platinum (AuHgPt) nanoalloys. The obtained alloys were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques.

Chrysoidin (CG) can be ingested into the human body through the skin and cause chronic toxicity, so the detection of CG levels in the environment is crucial. In this study, we synthesize F-Ag@ZIF-8/PVC molecular-imprinted membranes (FZAP-MIM) by an innovative combination of SERS detection, membrane separation, and a molecular-imprinted technique in order to perform the analysis of CG in water. The plasmonic MOF material as a SERS substrate helps to enrich the target and realize the spatial overlap of the target with the nanoparticle tip "hotspot".

The growing demand for sustainable energy storage solutions has underscored the importance of phase change materials (PCMs) for thermal energy management. However, traditional PCMs are always inherently constrained by issues such as leakage, poor thermal conductivity, and lack of solar energy conversion capacity. Herein, a multifunctional composite phase change material (CPCM) is developed using a balsa-derived morphology genetic scaffold, engineered via bionic catechol surface chemistry.

The development of efficient and sustainable photocatalysts for wastewater treatment remains a critical challenge in environmental remediation. In this study, a ternary photocatalyst, Cu-CuO/g-CN, was synthesized by embedding copper-copper oxide heterostructural nanocrystals onto g-CN nanosheets via a simple deposition method. Structural and optical characterization confirmed the successful formation of the heterostructure, which combines the narrow bandgap of CuO, the high stability of g-CN, and the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of Cu nanoparticles.
