Prick skin testing and IgE FASTTM results were compared in eight atopic patients, using a comparable class system. Identical results were found in 53.5% of the cases; a total of 85.7% of the results were within one class difference. Sera from 436 patients were assayed for specific IgE to 94 allergens for a total of 436 test comparisons using IgE FASTTM and modified RAST. Identical results were found in 41.7% of cases; a total of 81.4% of the tests differed by one class or less. The IgE FAST showed good correlation both with prick testing and modified RAST. IgE FAST appears to be a valid non-radioactive, time-efficient method for detecting specific IgE to common inhalant and environmental allergens.

Background: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) appears to share some pathomechanisms with metabolic syndrome (MS), such as proinflammatory state, increased oxidative stress, changes in adipokine profile, and coagulation system activation.
Aim And Objectives: To evaluate clinical and laboratory parameters of MS in CSU patients and to assess relationship of MS with duration and severity of CSU, Ig-E, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), C-reactive protein (CRP), and autologous serum skin test (ASST).
Materials And Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 131 CSU cases and 131 controls who were age- and sex-matched.

Edible insects are attracting increasing interest as sustainable alternative protein sources. Despite being considered a safe food for most population, their consumption can pose health risks for allergic patients. This work focused on isolating proteins from the four-European Union approved insects (Tenebrio molitor, Alphitobius diaperinus, Acheta domesticus, and Locusta migratoria) and evaluating their potential immunoglobulin E (IgE)-reactivity with crustacean-allergic patients' sera.

Background: Diagnosis of allergies is mostly based on the patient's clinical history and allergen provocation tests. Determination of specific IgE (sIgE) profiles can be performed to support allergy diagnosis. This is commonly done in vivo by the skin prick test or in vitro with automated systems.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder associated with significant morbidity, including pruritus, recurrent skin lesions, and immune dysregulation. This study aimed to investigate the antioxidative and anti-AD effects of peptides derived from hydrolyzed (Korea rockfish) tail by-products. Hydrolysates were prepared using various enzymes, including Alcalase, Flavourzyme, Neutrase, and Protamex.
