Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined long-term outcomes of Ahmed glaucoma device capsulectomy in pediatric patients over nearly 10 years, focusing on surgical success and post-operative complications.
  • - A total of 22 capsulectomies were reviewed, showing a low success rate of 23% for maintaining acceptable intraocular pressure (IOP) without further procedures, alongside some short-term complications.
  • - The findings suggest that while capsulectomy may not prevent the need for additional surgery in most cases, it can provide temporary relief before other treatment options.

Despite a previous implant exchange with capsulectomy, the patient experienced a recurrence of symptoms for the last six months with a sudden worsening during the last night. Clinical examination revealed an asymmetry in favour of the left breast, but otherwise no clear evidence of implant-associated complication.

SportsDocs, 4B Summerville, Bandra West, Mumbai, 400050, India; Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center, Mumbai, 400004, India. Electronic address:

Elbow stiffness secondary to trauma or surgical reconstruction can sometimes result in a severe contracture with restricted joint space, and arthroscopic access to the joint is difficult. Previous surgery and severe stiffness can also alter the position of neurovascular structures and iatrogenic injury is possible with an inside-out arthroscopic approach. To overcome these technical difficulties, an endoscopic approach to the anterior capsule can be performed as an alternative to open approach.
