This study aimed to test the use of Rietveld refinement on respirable aerosol samples to determine the phase of respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and other minerals. The results from the Rietveld refinement were compared to an external standard method and gravimetrical measurements. Laboratory samples consisting of α-quartz, feldspar, and calcite with variable proportions and total mass loadings were made and analyzed using the NIOSH 7500 , followed by Rietveld refinement.

Context: Hydrogen storage in porous nanostructured compounds have recently attracted a lot of attention due to the fact that the underlying adsorption mechanism and thermodynamics provide suitable platform for room temperature adsorption and desorption of H molecules. This work reports the findings of a study on the reversible hydrogen storage capacities of Sc and Y decorated C fullerene, conducted using dispersion-corrected density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The transition metal (TM) atoms, such as Sc and Y, are identified to attach to the C-C bridge position of the C fullerene through non-covalent closed-shell interactions.

Precise soil water content (SWC) measurement is crucial for effective water resource management. This study utilizes the Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensor (CRNS) for area-averaged SWC measurements, emphasizing the need to consider all hydrogen sources, including time-variable plant biomass and water content. Near Mead, Nebraska, three field sites (CSP1, CSP2, and CSP3) growing a maize-soybean rotation were monitored for 5 (CSP1 and CSP2) and 13 (CSP3) years.
