Symmastia is a rare complication of augmentation mammaplasty that occurs when a breast implant crosses the midline and connects with the contralateral implant pocket. We present a case of implant rupture, migration to the contralateral breast, and ultimate symmastia following a traumatic fall in a patient with prior breast augmentation.

Abdominal pregnancy (AP) is a rare event of globally reported pregnancy and is significantly challenging to diagnose because of various symptoms. Therefore, we aimed to present a case of a 26-year-old female with unexpected AP of third pregnancy found during emergency fetal evacuation laparotomy. The possible scenario was found to be fetus implanted into the fibroid scar of her obstetric history, leading to complications with uterine rupture.

Silicone breast implants (SBIs) are commonly used for breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. However, long-term complications associated with SBI, such as rupture and infection, require careful monitoring. Here, we report a case in which coronavirus disease 2019 infection led to immunosuppression and secondary bacterial infection, resulting in skin ulceration and eventual removal of the SBI.

This technical note explores the novel use of an imageless robotic surgical system for simultaneous unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Knee osteoarthritis (OA) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) insufficiency are common conditions that traditionally require separate management. The integration of robotic assistance offers enhanced precision in surgical procedures, addressing both medial compartment OA and ACL insufficiency in a single operation.

Ionic gels (IGs), ionic liquids (ILs) dispersed in polymers, exhibit extremely low vapor pressure, electrochemical and thermal stability, and excellent mechanical characteristics; therefore, they are used for fabricating stretchable sensors, electrochemical transistors, and energy storage devices. Although such characteristics are promising for flexible and stretchable electronics, the mechanical stress-induced ruptured covalent bonds forming polymer networks cannot recover owing to the irreversible interaction between the bonds. Physical cross-linking via noncovalent bonds enables the interaction of polymers and ILs to form supramolecular IGs (SIGs), which exhibit favorable characteristics for wearable devices that conventional IGs with noncovalent bonds cannot achieve.

BACKGROUND Acute intramural hematoma (IMH) of the ascending thoracic aorta and aortic arch is a life-threatening condition, particularly in elderly patients with comorbidities, due to its risk of progression and rupture. Unlike aortic dissection, IMH lacks an intimal tear, influencing both clinical presentation and treatment strategy. This report describes a 74-year-old hypertensive woman with type A IMH and a penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (PAU), managed with a hybrid surgical approach that combines external Dacron wrapping of the ascending aorta and endovascular stenting of the aortic arch with in-situ fenestration of the supra-aortic arteries.
