Background: Inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) are more than 500 different rare congenital disorders of the immune system characterized by susceptibility to infections and immune dysregulation. The significant overlap of the clinical features among the different forms may lead to diagnostic delay. High throughput sequencing techniques may allow a timely genetic definition.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, wastewater-based surveillance (WBS) showed great potential as an early warning system and could complement human clinical surveillance. This study aimed to highlight the added value of WBS for respiratory infections alongside different clinical surveillance systems. Sewage collected at the entry of four Wastewater Treatment Plants in Northern Tuscany (Italy) were analyzed for SARS-CoV-2, Human Adenovirus (HAdV), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Influenza Virus (IV), over two years.

Purpose: The metabolic pathways of APP-CHMINACA were characterized to select the markers of intake for implementation into analytical assays used by the clinical and forensic communities. We have combined the evidences obtained by both in vitro experiments and administration studies on mice.
Methods: APP-CHMINACA was incubated with either human or mouse liver microsomes.

Background: Prevalence, correlates and outcomes of respiratory failure (RF) were never studied in large populations of older patients hospitalized in acute care medical settings. Little is known about the possible association between RF and delirium, and whether these two syndromes, alone or in combination, may affect short-term mortality.
Objectives: To investigate prevalence and features of RF, the association between delirium and RF, and their effect on short-term mortality.

Introduction: West Nile Virus (WNV) is a significant public health concern in southern Europe, with meteorological, climatic, and environmental factors playing a critical role in its transmission dynamics. This study aims to assess the short-term effects of meteorological variables on the incidence of WNV in five Italian regions in Northern Italy from 2012 to 2021.
Methods: Linking epidemiological data from the national surveillance system and local meteorological data, we conducted a Case-Time Series analysis to examine the association between WNV incident cases and temperature, humidity, and precipitation recorded up to ten weeks before case occurrence at the local administrative unit level.
