Metal halide perovskite semiconductors have emerged as promising materials for various optoelectronic applications due to their unique crystal structure and outstanding properties. Among different forms, perovskite nanowires (NWs) offer distinct advantages, including a high aspect ratio, superior crystallinity, excellent light absorption, and carrier transport properties, as well as unique anisotropic luminescence properties. Understanding the formation mechanism and structure-property relationship of perovskite NWs is crucial for exploring their potential in optoelectronic devices. In this study, we successfully synthesized all-inorganic halide perovskite NWs with high aspect ratios and an orthorhombic crystal phase using the hot-injection method with controlled reaction conditions and surface ligands. These NWs exhibit excellent optical and electrical properties. Moreover, precise control over the halogen composition through a simple anion exchange process enables the tuning of the bandgap, leading to fluorescence emission, covering a wide range of colors across the visible spectrum. Consequently, these perovskite NWs hold great potential for efficient energy conversion and catalytic applications in photoelectrocatalysis.

Metal halide perovskites, including some of their related perovskitoid structures, form a semiconductor class of their own, which is arousing ever-growing interest from the scientific community. With halides being involved in the various structural arrangements, namely, pure corner-sharing MX (M is metal and X is halide) octahedra, for perovskite networks, or alternatively a combination of corner-, edge-, and/or face-sharing for related perovskitoids, they represent the ideal probe for characterizing the way octahedra are linked together. Well known for their inherently large quadrupolar constants, which is detrimental to the resolution of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, most abundant halide isotopes (Cl, Br, I) are in turn attractive for magnetic field-free nuclear quadrupolar resonance (NQR) spectroscopy.

Hybrid lead halide perovskites are promising materials for photovoltaic applications due to their exceptional optoelectronic properties. Here, we investigate the impact of Schottky defects─specifically PbI(V) and CHNHI (V) vacancies─on nonradiative recombination in CHNHPbI using time-dependent density functional theory and nonadiabatic (NA) molecular dynamics. Our results reveal that Schottky defects do not alter the fundamental bandgap or introduce trap states but instead distort the surrounding lattice, localizing the hole distribution.

Although Pb-based metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have excellent photoelectric characteristics, their toxicity remains a limiting factor for their widespread application. In the paper, a series of CsCuClxBr3-x (x = 1, 2, 3) MHP microcrystals were developed and their hydrogen evolution performance in ethanol and HX (X = Cl, Br) was also studied. Among them, CsCuCl3 microcrystals exhibit high hydrogen evolution performance in both HX and ethanol, attributed to their longest average lifetime and suitable band structure.
