We characterized a collection of IMI-like-producing Enterobacter spp. isolates (n = 112) in France. The main clone corresponded to IMI-1-producing sequence type 820 E. cloacae subspecies cloacae that was involved in an outbreak. Clinicians should be aware of potential antimicrobial resistance among these bacteria.

Nacubactam is a novel, broad-spectrum, β-lactamase inhibitor that is currently under development as combination therapy with meropenem. This study evaluated the efficacy of human-simulated epithelial lining fluid ELF) exposures of meropenem, nacubactam, and the combination of meropenem and nacubactam against class A serine carbapenemase-producing isolates in the neutropenic murine lung infection model. Twelve clinical meropenem-resistant , , and isolates, all harboring KPC or IMI-type β-lactamases, were utilized in the study.

Whole-genome sequencing was performed on 16 isolates of the carbapenemase-producing complex to determine the flanking regions of -type genes. Phylogenetic analysis of multilocus sequence typing (MLST) targets separated the isolates into 4 clusters. The -type genes were all found on Xer-dependent integrative mobile elements (IMEX).
