We discuss key parameters that affect the reliability of hybrid simulations in the aqueous phase based on an efficient multi-scale coarse-grained polarizable pseudo-particle approach, denoted as pppl, to model the solvent water, whereas solutes are modeled using an all atom polarizable force field. Among those parameters, the extension of the solvent domain (SD) at the solute vicinity (domain in which each solvent particle corresponds to a single water molecule) and the magnitude of solute/solvent short range polarization damping effects are shown to be pivotal to model NaCl salty aqueous solutions and the hydration of charged systems, such as the hydrophobic polyelectrolyte polymer that we have recently investigated [Masella et al., J. Chem. Phys. 155, 114903 (2021)]. Strong short range damping is pivotal to simulate aqueous salt NaCl solutions at moderate concentration (up to 1.0M). The SD extension (as well as short range damping) has a weak effect on the polymer conformation; however, it plays a pivotal role in computing accurate polymer/solvent interaction energies. As the pppl approach is up to two orders of magnitude computationally more efficient than all atom polarizable force field methods, our results show it to be an efficient alternative route to investigate the equilibrium properties of complex charged molecular systems in extended chemical environments.

We report the case of an 18-month-old boy who developed a phototoxic skin reaction to terbinafine on his scalp, ears, and face in the form of disseminated erythematous plaques, which resembled subacute lupus erythematosus (SCLE) in their clinical presentation. Skin changes appeared a short time after the boy was exposed to sunlight during the period of time when he was treated with oral terbinafine due to Microsporum canis fungal scalp infection. Tinea capitis is a common dermatophyte infection primarily affecting prepubertal children (1).

Many theories on cognitive effort start from the assumption that cognitive effort can be expended at will, and flexibly up- or down-regulated depending on expected task demand and rewards. However, while effort regulation has been investigated across a wide range of incentive conditions, few investigated the cost of effort regulation itself. Across four experiments, we studied the effects of reward expectancy and task difficulty on effort expenditure in a perceptual decision-making task (random-dot-motion) and a cognitive control task (colour-naming Stroop), and within each task comparted cues between short (cueing the next trial) and long (cueing the next six trials) prediction horizons.

Introduction And Aim:  Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the enlargement and overgrowth of the prostate leading to the compression of the urethra and resulting in obstruction to the outflow of urine. Prostatic urethral lift (UroLift) is a budding minimally invasive technique that utilises mechanical manipulation of the prostate tissue so that the urethra is free from compression, thereby creating a channel for the outflow of urine. Introduction: Thoracic SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumors (SMARCA4-UTs) are a recently defined group of aggressive cancers in which the effectiveness of standard treatments for lung cancer is unknown.

Methods: We collected clinical, pathologic, and demographic variables from five institutions for patients whose tumors met criteria for SMARCA4-UTs (undifferentiated phenotype and loss of SMARCA4 (BRG1) by immunohistochemistry).

Results: We identified 92 patients with SMARCA4-UTs; 58 (63%) had stage IV disease at diagnosis and 16 (17%) developed recurrent or metastatic disease after initial diagnosis.
