Pheochromocytomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors that can present as hypertensive crises or serious cardiac and cerebrovascular complications that endanger the patient's life. Two unusual cases of adrenergic crises induced by pheochromocytoma with cardiovascular manifestations are presented, one with multiple complications/multiorgan failure, fatal outcome and definitive diagnosis in the post mortem autopsy, and another with a satisfactory evolution after diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Background: Myocardial hypertrophy is a chronic cardiac condition that often occurs from long-term pressure or volumetric load on the heart. Propranolol hydrochloride has been employed in research on hypertension, pheochromocytoma, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, angina pectoris, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Current treatments for this condition have side effects, such as arrhythmias and myocardial cell death, thus necessitating safer and more effective alternatives.

Despite all recent progresses in nerve tissue engineering, critical-sized nerve defects are still extremely challenging to repair. Therefore, this study targets the bridging of critical nerve defects and promoting an oriented neuronal outgrowth by engineering innovative nerve guidance conduits (NGCs) synergistically possessing exclusive topographical, chemical, and mechanical cues. To do so, a mechanically adequate mixture of polycaprolactone (PCL) and polylactic--glycolic acid (PLGA) was first carefully selected as base material to electrospin nanofibrous NGCs simulating the extracellular matrix.

Post-COVID-19 syndrome is a set of symptoms and signs that persist for more than 12 weeks after COVID-19 infection and currently lacks a standardised clinical definition. Only one case has been reported in which a pheochromocytoma was mistaken for post-COVID-19 syndrome. The symptomatology of this syndrome is variable and ranges from headache and fatigue to persistent dyspnoea and neurocognitive disturbances.
