Microalgal oil production represents a promising renewable biofuel source. Metabolic engineering can enhance its utility, transforming it into an improved biofuel and expanding its applications as a feedstock for commodity chemicals, thereby increasing their value in biorefineries. This study focused on anaerobic wax ester production by the microalga Euglena gracilis, aiming to develop stable mutant strains with altered wax ester profiles through genome editing.

Efficient removal and recovery of phosphorus from aquaculture tailwater is challenging due to increasing strict water environment restrictions. This study presents a sustainable approach by using microalgae-waste-derived hydrogels/membranes for phosphorus adsorption and microalgae cultivation. Waste from Euglena gracilis (or Haematococcus pluvialis), modified with magnesium, was converted into biochars (abbreviated as MEBC or MHBC).

Oviraptorosaurians were a theropod dinosaur group that reached high diversity in the Late Cretaceous. Within oviraptorosaurians, the later diverging oviraptorids evolved distinctive crania which were extensively pneumatised, short and tall, and had a robust toothless beak, interpreted as providing a powerful bite for their herbivorous to omnivorous diet. The present study explores the ability of oviraptorid crania to resist large mechanical stresses compared with other theropods and where this adaptation originated within oviraptorosaurians.

Background: Generalized joint laxity (GJL) is a risk factor for inferior outcomes after the modified Broström procedure for chronic lateral ankle instability, while anatomic reconstruction with tendons is more inclined to be recommended. However, whether anatomic reconstruction could achieve better results than the modified Broström procedure in patients with GJL is unknown.
Purpose: To compare clinical outcomes and return to sports between anatomic reconstruction and the modified Broström procedure in patients with GJL.
