AI Article Synopsis

  • Hainan Province, China, has favorable environmental conditions for Leuctridae insects, but it shows low species diversity with only two previously recorded species.
  • A new species of Leuctridae from the Wuzhi Mountains in Hainan has been identified and described.
  • The study includes a summary of the Leuctridae family in Hainan and adds detailed descriptions and illustrations for one of the previously recorded species.

Article Abstract

Background: Hainan Province is an island in the south of China and belongs to the Oriental Region. It has a unique geographical location and superior climatic conditions, providing a good living environment for Leuctridae insects. However, the species richness of the stonefly family Leuctridae in Hainan is low. Two species in total have been recorded, Li, Li & Yang, 2023 and Li & Yang, 2010.

New Information: A new species of Leuctridae (Plecoptera) from Wuzhi Mountains, Hainan Province of south China, is described and illustrated. We summarised the Leuctridae in Hainan Province and provide supplemental description and colour plates of Li & Yang, 2010.

Background: Prolonged dependence on mechanical ventilation is a common occurrence in clinical ICU patients and presents significant challenges for patient care and resource allocation. Predicting prolonged dependence on mechanical ventilation is crucial for improving patient outcomes, preventing ventilator-associated complications, and guiding targeted clinical interventions. However, specific tools for predicting prolonged mechanical ventilation among ICU patients, particularly those with critical orthopaedic trauma, are currently lacking.

Introduction: Calf muscular vein thrombosis (CMVT) is a type of distal deep vein thrombosis, which is common in geriatric hip fracture patients. However, studies focusing on whether the orthopedic operation has an impact on the prognosis of geriatric hip fracture patients with CMVT are very limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore whether geriatric hip fractures with CMVT affect the mortality of patients within one year postoperatively.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between postoperative oxidative stress and corneal endothelial cell loss in diabetic patients with cataract.

Methods: One hundred and twenty patients who underwent phacoemulsification were selected, including 80 diabetic patients with cataract and 40 patients with ordinary cataracts. Corneal endothelial cell loss was recorded, and the endothelial cell density (ECD), the proportion of hexagonal cells, and the corneal thickness within the central corneal area were compared.
