Underground fractured rock masses are susceptible to failure under the combined influence of true triaxial stresses and pore pressure, posing severe threats to personnel and production safety of underground engineering. To investigate the influence of intermediate principal stress (σ) on the mechanical and water diffusion volume change (Δ) characteristics during the failure process of cracked rocks under stable pore pressure, this study conducted true triaxial strength experiments on cracked sandstone with stable pore pressure. The results demonstrated that with the increase of σ, crack initiation stress (σ), crack damage stress (σ) and the peak stress (σ) of cracked sandstone initially increase and then decrease. Conversely, Δ tends to decrease first and then increase with the increase of σ. This inverse relationship indicates that under elevated σ, the decreased strength of cracked rock could lead to an increase in Δ, which may increase the probability of water inrush disasters. The findings of this study provide a theoretical reference for the stability of rock mass engineering and the prevention of water inrush disasters.

Biological surfaces with physical discontinuity or chemical heterogeneity possess special wettability in the form of anisotropic wetting behavior. However, there are several challenges in designing and manufacturing samples with anisotropic wettability. This study investigates the fabrication of PTFE/PDMS grid membranes using Direct Ink Writing (DIW) 3D printing for oil-water separation applications.

The phase behavior of CO and hydrocarbons at different scales significantly affects oil recovery efficiency, yet its underlying mechanisms remain insufficiently understood. This study improves existing thermodynamic models by introducing Helmholtz free energy as a convergence criterion and incorporating adsorption effects in micro- and nano-scale pores.

Objective: The triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) Gyroid porous scaffolds were built with identical porosity while varying pore sizes were used by fluid mechanics finite element analysis (FEA) to simulate the microenvironment. The effects of scaffolds with different pore sizes on cell adhesion, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation were evaluated through calculating fluid velocity, wall shear stress, and permeability in the scaffolds.
Methods: Three types of gyroid porous scaffolds, with pore sizes of 400, 600 and 800 μm, were established by nTopology software.

Massive injection of C depleted carbon to the ocean and atmosphere coincided with major environmental upheaval multiple times in the geological record. For several events, the source of carbon has been attributed to explosive venting of gas produced when magmatic sills intruded organic-rich sediment. The concept mostly derives from studies of a few ancient sedimentary basins with numerous hydrothermal vent complexes (HTVCs) where craters appear to have formed across large areas of the seafloor at the same time, but good examples remain rare in strata younger than the Early Eocene.

In China, the crude oil supply is highly dependent on overseas countries, and thus strengthening crude oil self-sufficiency has become an important issue of the national energy security. Tertiary oil recovery, especially polymer flooding, has been widely applied in large oil fields in China, which can increase the recovery rate by 15%-20% compared with water flooding. However, the widely used oil flooding polymers show poor thermal stability and salinity tolerance, complicated synthesis ways of monomers, and environmental unfriendliness.
