To achieve the actuation of silicone-based foamed composites, a liquid-gas phase transition of the liquid captured in its pores is employed. The uncertainty of key parameters for a single or sequential open-air performance of such soft actuators limits their application. To define the main characteristics of the composites, in this work, two functions of the liquid there were separated: the pore-forming agent (FPA) and working liquid (WL).

Cardiovascular diseases, particularly ischemic heart disease, area leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Myocardial infarction (MI) results in extensive cardiomyocyte loss, inflammation, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation, fibrosis, and ultimately, adverse ventricular remodeling associated with impaired heart function. Injecting α-synuclein pre-formed fibrils (αSyn PFFs) into various tissues and organs involves converting monomeric αSyn into a fibrillar form, inducing extensive αSyn pathology that effectively models Parkinson's disease (PD). However, the distinct physicochemical properties of αSyn amyloid fibrils can potentially reduce their seeding activity, especially during storage. In this study, it is demonstrated that αSyn PFFs exhibit significant sensitivity to low temperatures, with notable denaturation occurring between -20 and 4 °C, and gradual disassembly persisted even under storage conditions at -80 °C.
