In this paper, an iron-aluminide intermetallic compound with cerium addition was subjected to Vickers microhardness testing. A full range of Vickers microhardness loadings was applied: 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 500, and 1000 g. Tests were conducted in two areas: 0.5 mm under the surface of the rolled specimen and in the center. The aim was to find the optimal loading range that gives the true material microhardness, also deemed load-independent hardness, H. The results suggest that in the surface area, the reverse indentation size effect (RISE) occurred, similar to ceramics and brittle materials, while in the center, indentation size effect (ISE) behavior was obtained, more similar to metals. This clearly indicated an optimal microhardness of over 500 g in the surface region and over 100 g in the central region of the specimen. Load dependencies were quantitatively described by Meyer's law, proportional specimen resistance (PSR), and the modified PSR model. The modified PSR model proved to be the most adequate.

This work involves the preparation of dual surrogate-imprinted polymers (D-MIPs) for the capture of SARS-CoV-2. To achieve this goal, an innovative and novel dual imprinting approach using carboxylated-polystyrene (PS-COOH) nanoparticles with a diameter of 100 nm and a SARS-CoV-2 Spike-derived peptide was carried out at the surface of amine-functionalized silica (PS-NH) microspheres with a diameter of 500 nm. Firstly, PS-COOH nanoparticles with the same size and spherical shape as the SARS-CoV-2 virus were employed to form hemispherical indentations (HI) at the surface of the PS-NH microspheres (obtaining dummy particle-imprinted polymers, HI-MIPs).

The effects of aging treatment and the volume fraction of precipitation particles on the nano-hardness and nano-indentation morphology of Ni-based single crystal superalloys are systematically investigated. Using nano-indentation tests and atomic force microscopy (AFM), this study examined the mechanical properties and related physical mechanisms of Ni-based superalloys that have two volume fractions of precipitation particles and four aging treatment times. Results analyzed using the Oliver-Pharr method indicate that prolonging the aging time or increasing the volume fraction of particles enhances the nano-hardness and creep resistance of Ni-based single crystal superalloys and reduces the indentation-affected area.
