A low fermentable oligo-, mono-, di-saccharides, and polyols (FODMAPs) diet (LFD) is the most evidence-based dietary therapy for patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). However, the current step-down approach to the LFD has significant limitations including being costly, complex, time-consuming, and associated with reduced dietary intake of some micronutrients. Recently, a step-up approach has been proposed that restricts only a limited number of FODMAPs initially, evaluating symptom response and restricting additional FODMAPs only if necessary. In a double-blind trial, fructans and galacto-oligosaccharides were found to be the most likely FODMAP subgroups to trigger IBS symptoms. To date, no study has compared the efficacy of a traditional LFD restriction phase with a more targeted or simplified restriction phase. In a double-blind, pilot-feasibility randomized controlled trial, we compared the efficacy of a 4-week FODMAP-simple restriction phase (eliminating solely fructans and galactooligosaccharides) and a traditional LFD restriction phase in patients with IBS with diarrhea (IBS-D) (ClinicalTrials.gov registration number NCT05831306).

Background: Even though major improvements have been made in the treatment of myeloma, the majority of patients eventually relapse or progress. Patients with multiple myeloma who relapse after initial high-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cells have a median progression free survival up to 2-3 years, depending on risk factors such as previous remission duration. In recent years, growing evidence has suggested that allogeneic stem cell transplantation could be a promising treatment option for patients with relapsed or progressed multiple myeloma.

This study aimed to investigate the interactions between the Dietary approaches to stop hypertension (DASH) and the rs1501299 and rs6450176 SNPs in terms of cardiometabolic risk factors. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 387 adults (20-70 years old) residing in Yazd, Iran. The participants were selected from participants in the recruitment phase of the Yazd Health Study (YaHS) which is a population-based cohort of 9,962 adults.

This report describes a rare case of anuric acute kidney injury related to suspected urate nephropathy in a 23-year-old male with chronic phase of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). The patient presented with anuria and limb edema, with a history of imatinib-treated CML. Investigations revealed probable urate crystals causing bilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureters.

To investigate the effect of a novel coumarin derivative, ethyl 2,2-difluoro-2 - (2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl) acetate (C2F), on the malignant biological behaviors of colorectal cancer (CRC) and elucidate its mechanism. In vitro, the effects of C2F on the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, and cell cycle of CRC cells were analyzed by MTT assay, EdU stainning, colony formation assay, flow cytometry, wound healing and transwell assay. The anti-CRC activity of C2F was evaluated in a nude mice xenograft model in vivo.

ConspectusLithium-ion batteries (LIBs) based on graphite anodes are a widely used state-of-the-art battery technology, but their energy density is approaching theoretical limits, prompting interest in lithium-metal batteries (LMBs) that can achieve higher energy density. In addition, the limited availability of lithium reserves raises supply concerns; therefore, research on postlithium metal batteries is underway. A major issue with these metal anodes, including lithium, is dendritic formation and insufficient reversibility, which leads to safety risks due to short circuits and the use of flammable electrolytes.
