Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Department of Surgery, Yale School of Medicine, PO Box 208062, New Haven, CT, 06520-8062, USA.
Background: Limited literature exists regarding surgeon perceptions and practice patterns for low anterior resection syndrome (LARS). In this study, we sought to understand how colon and rectal surgery faculty perceive and manage LARS.
Methods: We invited colon and rectal surgery faculty (CRS faculty) members from all programs that offer an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited colon and rectal surgery residency (n = 378) to participate in an electronic survey.

Background: Anastomotic leakage is a common complication after low anterior resection for rectal cancer, often resulting in a permanent stoma. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of early detection, sepsis control, and transanal repair in managing anastomotic leakage.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study conducted from January 2018 to June 2022 at a Norwegian university hospital, patients undergoing resectional surgery for rectal cancer were assessed for anastomotic leaks.

Background: The optimal intervention for managing low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) remains uncertain. This Bayesian network meta-analysis was conducted to compare and rank the effectiveness of various interventions on LARS.
Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) addressing interventions for LARS were extracted from six electronic databases until September 2023.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to explore long-term experiences of transanal irrigation (TAI) in patients with major low anterior resection syndrome (LARS).
Methods: The study included a qualitative and quantitative analysis of patients who developed major LARS after rectal cancer surgery between 2016 and 2019 and have undergone treatment with TAI. The patients received questionnaires.
