We explore theoretically Goos-Hänchen (GH) shift around the defect mode in superconducting defective photonic crystals (PCs) in cryogenic environment. The defective PCs are constructed by alternating semiconductors and superconductors. A defect mode arises in the photonic bandgap and sensitively depends on environment temperature and hydrostatic pressure. Reflection and transmission coefficient phases make an abruptly jump at the defect mode and giant GH shifts have been achieved around this mode. The maximum GH shift can get as high as 103λ (incident wavelength), which could be modulated by the values of temperature and hydrostatic pressure. This study may be utilized for pressure- or temperature-sensors in cryogenic environment.

For silicon-based devices using dielectric oxides doped with rare earth ions, their electroluminescence (EL) performance relies on the sufficient carrier injection. In this work, the atomic GaO layers are inserted within the Er-doped GeO nanofilms fabricated by atomic layer deposition (ALD). Both Ga(CH) and Ga(CH) could realize the ALD growth of GaO onto the as-deposited GeO nanofilm with unaffected deposition rates.

Background: Both depressive symptoms and neurotransmitter changes affect the characteristics of functional brain networks in clinical patients. We sought to explore how brain functional grading is organized among patients with mild cognitive impairment and depressive symptoms (D-MCI) and whether changes in brain organization are related to neurotransmitter distribution.
Methods: Using 3 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) we acquired functional MRI (fMRI) data from patients with D-MCI, patients with mild cognitive impairment without depression (nD-MCI), and healthy controls.

Objectives: Cardiovascular complications are well known in humans with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (PKD), but limited data exist for cats. This study aimed to assess echocardiographic changes, cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels and systolic blood pressure (SBP) in Persian cats with PKD to detect early cardiac abnormalities.
Methods: In total, 52 Persian and mixed-Persian cats were enrolled, with 26 cats in the control group and 26 diagnosed with PKD via ultrasound due to the unavailability of genetic testing.
