Concerns regarding outcomes and early resource utilization are potential deterrents to broader use of kidneys at risk for delayed graft function (DGF). We assessed outcomes specific to kidneys with DGF that required early readmission following transplant. Three groups were identified: 1) recipients with DGF not requiring readmission, 2) recipients with DGF having an isolated readmission, and 3) recipients with DGF requiring ≥2 readmissions.

Introduction: Arterial calcification is an integral component of active atherosclerosis and is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Atherosclerosis is a systemic, life-threating disease that may occur at different sites and in various clinical presentations. Intracranial and valvular calcifications are common among dialysis patients and have been associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes.

Pulmonary hypertension (PHT) is associated with increased mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients. The ventricular gradient optimized for right ventricular pressure overload (VG-RVPO) is sensitive to early changes in right ventricular overload. The study aimed to assess the ability of the VG-RVPO to detect PHT and predict all-cause and cardiac mortality in HD patients.
