A family of stilbenyl-azopyrroles compounds 2a-d and 3a-d was efficiently obtained a Mizoroki-Heck C-C-type coupling reaction between 2-(4'-iodophenyl-azo)--methyl pyrrole (1a) and different vinyl precursors. The influence of the π-conjugated backbone and the effect of the pyrrole moiety were correlated with their optical properties. Studies UV-Visible spectrophotometry revealed that the inclusion of EWG or EDG favors a red-shift of the main absorption band in these azo compounds compared with their non-substituted analogues. Furthermore, there is a clear influence between the half-life of the isomer formed by irradiation with white light and the push-pull behavior of the molecules. In several cases, the stilbenyl-azopyrroles led to the formation of J-type aggregates in binary MeOH : HO solvents, which are of interest for water compatible applications.

Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) are an important class of nutrients and are involved in lipid metabolism. The positions of the C=C bond and cis-trans isomerism have a significant influence on their physiological activity. However, simultaneously detecting these two structural properties has been challenging due to multiple isomers of MUFA.

Elucidating the structural dynamics of ligand-stabilized noble metal nanoclusters (NCs) is critical for understanding their properties and for developing applications. Ligand rearrangement at NC surfaces is an important contributor to structural change. In this study, we investigate the dynamic behavior of ligand-protected [Ag(L)] NC's (L = 1,3-benzenedithiol) interacting with secondary ligand 2,2'-[1,4-phenylenebis (methylidynenitrilo)] bis[benzenethiol] (referred to as ).

The structural isomerism of atomically precise nanoclusters provides a preeminent theoretical model to investigate the structure-property relationships. Herein, we synthesized three bowl-like polyoxometalate (POM)-encapsulated Ag nanoclusters (denoted as {Ag14(Sb3W30)2}-1, {Ag14(Sb3W30)2}-1a, and {Ag14(Sb3W30)2}-2) via a facile one-pot solvothermal approach. Among them, for the first time, an unprecedented isomeric {Ag14}10+ nanoclusters are obtained in polyoxoanions {Ag14(Sb3W30)2}-1 and {Ag14(Sb3W30)2}-2, which should be probably induced by the different distribution of coordinating O atoms in two isomeric bowl-like {Sb3W30} ligands.

The isomerization kinetics of a liquid crystalline azobenzene dimer, comprising cyanoazobenzene and naphthalene (NAZ6), were investigated at the air-water interface. The Langmuir monolayers of NAZ6 in both its and states were analyzed using surface manometry techniques. The results revealed that NAZ6 molecules in the -state displayed the coexistence of a disordered liquid-expanded phase and an ordered liquid-condensed phase, whereas no such phase transition was observed in the -state.
