. Blood C-reactive protein (CRP) and the electrical bioimpedance spectroscopy (EBIS) variables phase angle (PhA) and impedance ratio (IR) have been proposed as biomarkers of metainflammation in overweight/obesity. CRP involves taking blood samples, while PhA and IR imply a less-than-2-minute-non-invasive procedure. In this study, values for these variables and percent body fat mass (PBFM) were obtained and compared before and immediately after a colon cleansing protocol (CCP), aimed at modulating intestinal microbiota and reducing metainflammation, as dysbiosis and the latter are intrinsically related, as well as along a period of 8 weeks after it.. 20 female volunteers (20.9-24.9 years old) participated: 12 in an overweight group (), and 8 in a lean group (). Thewas divided in two subgroups (= 6, each): control () and experimental (). Theunderwent a 6-day CCP at week 2, while 5 volunteers in theunderwent it at week 9.Pre/post-CCP mean values for the variables in thewere: PBFM (34.3/31.3%), CRP (3.7/0.6 mg dl), PhA (6.9/7.5°) and IR*10 (0.78/0.77). Calculatedcorrelation factors among these variables are all above 0.89. The favourable changes first seen in thewere still present 8 weeks after the CCP.(a) the CCP drastically lowers meta-inflammation, (b) EBIS can be used to measure metainflammation, before and after treatment, (c) for microbiota modulation, CCP could be a good alternative to more drastic procedures like faecal microbiota transplantation; (d) reestablishing eubiosis by CCP could be an effective coadjutant in the treatment of overweight young adult women.

This case report describes a complex full-step asymmetrical Class II division 1 high-angle in an adult patient treated by extraction of compromised first molars with a preadjusted lingual appliance. Since the patient presented severe sagittal and vertical discrepancies combined with an Izard orthofrontal profile with upper lip protrusion, an extraction camouflage was performed with the twofold aim of obtaining ideal occlusal relationship and profile improvement, correcting occlusal plane cant by selective intrusion with interradicular miniscrews. Appropriate biomechanical strategies, including extraction choice and anchorage control during space closure, were needed to achieve the planned results.

The technique utilizes a composite polarized vortex beam interacting with the wave plate under test. By analyzing the azimuth angle of the dark fringe in the interference pattern, the wave plate's characteristics are accurately extracted.

However, in conventional all-dielectric one-dimensional photonic crystal (1DPC) heterostructures, TISs strongly depend on incident angle, which limits their practical applications. Here, we realize an angle-independent TIS in 1DPC heterostructures containing hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs) for transverse magnetic polarized waves.

They are minimized by truncating the initial grates, which deflect reflected light at an oblique angle and excite higher-order modes in the tapered waveguide that is filtered out. Insertion losses resulting from this modification of the grating coupler are mitigated by an adaptive redesign of the grates that corrects incurred errors in the generated phase front.

We measured and compared the principal indices and principal axes orientations of NTFs grown on both a grating and a smooth glass substrate. By adjusting the deposition angle, we observed a significant variation in the columnar angle and principal indices of the NTF on the grating, compared to the NTF on a smooth surface.
