Purpose: US nonprofit hospitals must provide community benefits including financial assistance to be tax-exempt. Rural residents particularly benefit from financial assistance because they have higher medical debt on average. The Internal Revenue Service allows nonprofit hospitals that are members of health systems to report expenditures for their entire system (group returns) rather than for individual hospitals.

Aim: Local excision (LE) for T1 rectal cancer may be recommended in those with low-risk disease, while resection is typically recommended in those with a high risk of luminal recurrence or lymph node metastasis. The aim of this work was to compare survival between resection and LE.
Method: This was a population-based retrospective cohort study set in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The decision of the Joint Federal Committee on the treatment of hip fractures stipulates that proximal femur fractures must be treated within the first 24 h. This leads to organizational and personnel difficulties in day-to-day care. Therefore, we investigated the question at what times of day we operate to maintain this timeline and whether there is a difference in the outcome for the patients according to treatment hours.

This study aims to examine the prevalence of functional dependence and associated factors among Brazilian older people with functional dependence 12 months after COVID-19 infection. A cross-sectional study was carried out involving people aged 60 years or older in the state of Paraná, Brazil.
