Hydrogen peroxide (HO), an environmentally friendly strong oxidant and energy carrier, has attracted widespread attention in photocatalysis. Artificial photosynthesis of HO using water and oxygen as raw materials, solar energy as an energy source, and semiconductor materials as catalysts is considered a promising technology. In the past few decades, encouraging progress has been made in the photocatalytic production of HO. Therefore, we summarize the research achievements in this field in recent years. This review first briefly introduces the reaction pathway, detection techniques and evaluation metrics. Then, the recent advances in photocatalysts are highlighted. Furthermore, the existing challenges and possible solutions in this field are presented. At last, we look forward to the future development direction of this field. This review provides valuable insights and guidance for efficient photocatalytic HO production.

Fabricating visible-light-responsive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with high stability and effective catalytic functionality remains a long-term pursuit yet a great challenge. Herein, a strategy of increasing ligand and cluster connectivity is developed to construct highly stable fluorescein MOFs, La-CFL, presenting a new (4,8)-connected topological structure compared to Cd-FL constructed using 6-connected dinuclear clusters and 3-connected tritopic ligands. La(CFL) containers like Chinese "Ritual Wine Vessels (Jue)" resemble linear arrangements interconnected by the [La(COO)] clusters.

The concurrent evolution of value-added benzimidazole compounds and hydrogen within the domain of chemical synthesis is of paramount importance. The utilization of photocatalysis enhances both the efficiency and environmental benignity of the synthetic process. However, it is profoundly challenging within a photocatalytic system to simultaneously augment the number of active sites and the internal transport rate of photogenerated charge carriers.

The sonochemical synthesis of a chitosan-ZnO/FeO nanocomposite yielded a highly porous structure and large surface area for enhancing the photocatalytic degradation of cationic (rhodamine B, RhB) and anionic (methyl orange, MO) dyes in aqueous solution. Chitosan-ZnO/FeO demonstrated a significant enhancement in photodegradation efficiency 99.49% for MO ( = 5.

Heterojunctions are sustainable solutions for the photocatalytic CO reduction reaction (CORR) by regulating charge separation behavior at the interface. However, their efficiency and product selectivity are severely hindered by the inflexible and weak built-in electric field and the electronic structure of the two phases. Herein, ferroelectric-based heterojunctions between polarized bismuth ferrite (BFO(P)) and CdS are constructed to enhance the interfacial interactions and catalytic activity.
