Adaptation of the heart is often a blessing for the patient, but sometimes a diagnostic challenge for the responsible physician. The clinical difficulty may be enhanced when employing diagnostic tools that are hard to interpret. Ratio-based metrics are notorious in this respect, and particularly risky in the follow-up evaluation of heart transplant patients. However, measures expressed as physical units contribute to a comprehensive clinical evaluation and guide proper patient management.

To analyze the morphologic changes and the extent of severity in end-stage heart disease; and to explore the correlation with their clinical features. Twelve cases of recipients who underwent pediatric cardiac allograft transplantation were collected from May 2022 to November 2023 at the Seventh Medical Center of People's Liberation Army of China General Hospital. Gross pathologic examinations were performed and morphological changes were observed under a light microscope after HE, Masson's trichrome, and reticulin staining.

Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a potentially life-threatening congenital and obstructive anomaly of the distal aortic arch. After constriction of the ductus arteriosus, neonates may develop critical CoA in the isthmus area and present with severe left ventricular dysfunction or even cardiac failure. Low cardiac output and abdominal hypoperfusion (distal to the coarctation) may lead to metabolic derangements and clinical deterioration.

Background: Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) is a zoonotic pathogen primarily transmitted by rodents. Recently, LCMV has been detected in ticks from northeastern China; however, the pathogenicity of this virus in murine models remains to be elucidated.
Results: Here, we examined the tick-derived LCMV strain JX14 by inoculating BALB/c mice with 3.

This article explores the embodied dimension of authoring life trajectories for individuals who have undergone heart transplantation. Confronting the radical otherness of existential finitude can create a rich context for examining the relationships between authorship, corporeality, and creative processes. By integrating Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology of the body with Susanne Langer's theory of affective semiosis and presentational signs, this work aims to foster a productive dialogue between these perspectives, grounded in Semiotic Cultural Psychology, which meta-theoretically synthesizes a diverse range of knowledge on the transformative interaction between individuals and culture.

Aims: Heart failure with improved ejection fraction (HFimpEF) patients could still develop adverse outcomes despite EF improvement. This study evaluates the risk and protective factors of poor clinical outcomes in HFimpEF patients.
Methods: Systematic searching was done to include studies that evaluate the risks of developing poor outcomes in HFimpEF patients.
