AI Article Synopsis

  • Some important chemical reactions need carbon monoxide (CO) to make useful things.
  • This study looked at how two substances called CBD and CBDA react when mixed with a special type of carbon dioxide.
  • The results showed that CBD changed into CBDA pretty well, and the way they reacted was affected by the kind of plant they came from.

Article Abstract

Many organic reactions rely on CO sources to generate important structural units and valuable chemicals. In this study, we compared the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) on the supercritical CO (scCO)-induced de/carboxylation reaction. The results showed that CBD was directly carboxylated in the -position to form CBDA with up to 62% conversion. Meanwhile, CBDA decarboxylation occurred on hemp plant material varying composition. Mechanistic studies revealed that CBD carboxylation was influenced not only by the physical properties of scCO, but also by the vegetable matrix.
