High-Throughput Screening Method Using Keio Mutants for Assessing Primary Damage Mechanism of Antimicrobials. | LitMetric

AI Article Synopsis

Article Abstract

The Keio mutant collection has been a tool for assessing the role of specific genes and determining their role in physiology and uncovering novel functions. In this work, specific mutants in the DNA repair pathways and oxidative stress response were evaluated to identify the primary targets of silver nanoparticles (NPs) and their mechanism of action. The results presented in this work suggest that NPs mainly target DNA via double-strand breaks and base modifications since the , and mutants rendered the most susceptible phenotype, rather than involving the oxidative stress response. Concomitantly, during the establishment of the control conditions for each mutant, the and mutants showed a hypersensitive phenotype to mitomycin C, an alkylating agent. Thus, we propose that KatG catalase plays a key role as a cellular chaperone, as reported previously for the filamentous fungus , a large subunit catalase. The Keio collection mutants may also be a key tool for assessing the resistance mechanism to metallic NPs by using their potential to identify novel pathways involved in the resistance to NPs.

Background And Aims: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) exhibits a propensity for early recurrence following liver resection, resulting in a bleak prognosis. At present, majority of the predictive models for the early postoperative recurrence of HCC rely on the linear assumption of the Cox Proportional Hazard (CPH) model. However, the predictive efficacy of this model is constrained by the intricate nature of clinical data.

Risk prediction of excessive gestational weight gain based on a nomogram model: a prospective observational study in China.

J Matern Fetal Neonatal Med

December 2025

Clinical Nursing Teaching and Research Section, The Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China.

Background: Excessive Gestational Weight Gain is a global public health problem with serious and long-term effects on maternal and offspring health. Early identification of at-risk groups and interventions is crucial for controlling weight gain and reducing the prevalence of excessive gestational weight gain. Currently, tools for predicting the risk of excessive gestational weight gain are lacking in China.

Introduction Evidence-based medicine (EBM) competency is crucial for healthcare professionals; however, validated tools to assess EBM skills in Japanese are scarce. This study aimed to develop and validate a Japanese version of the Assessing Competency in EBM (ACE) tool. Methods We translated the ACE tool into Japanese, following international standards, and distributed it online to 99 healthcare professionals and students.

Background:  The integration of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) into clinical care, particularly in the context of cancer and multimorbidity, is crucial. While PROs have the potential to enhance patient-centered care and improve health outcomes through improved symptom assessment, they are not always adequately documented by the health care team.

Objectives:  This study aimed to explore the concordance between patient-reported symptom occurrence and symptoms documented in electronic health records (EHRs) in people undergoing treatment for cancer in the context of multimorbidity.
