We designed and developed the probe W-3 for detection of Cu. The results showed probe can selectively detect Cu, accompanied by noticeable color change. The probe can detect the Cu in water samples and drinks based on absorption detection. In addition, the combination of portable test paper and the smartphone platform obtained great convenience for on-site and visual detection of Cu, with satisfactory sensitivity and reliability. More importantly, the fluorescence probe W-3 can be used for the detection of Cu in cells and mice. Therefore, the W-3 provided potential chemical tools for detecting Cu in vitro and vivo.

Organicphosphorus is a ubiquitous pesticide that has potential hazards to human health and environmental well-being. Therefore, the precise identification of residues of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) emerges as an urgent necessity. A ratiometric fluorescent sensor for the detection of OPs by leveraging the catalytic activities of Ce and Ce on the two fluorescent substrates 4-Methylumbelliferyl phosphate (4-MUP) and o-phenylenediamine (OPD) correspondingly was designed.

When a body is discovered at a crime or murder scene, it is crucial to examine the body and estimate its postmortem interval (PMI). Accurate estimation of PMI is vital for identifying suspects and providing clues to resolve the case. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) are small non-coding RNAs that remain relatively stable in the cell nucleus even after death-related changes occur.

Direct preparation of silver nanoclusters is of great significance for their applications. In this work, by selecting sodium cyanoborohydride as a weak reducing agent to control the kinetics of the reduction reaction, we successfully prepared silver nanoclusters protected by thiol-containing ligands, including mercaptosuccinic acid, cysteine, and glutathione. Based on the silver nanoclusters protected by mercaptosuccinic acid, silver-gold alloy nanoclusters were obtained through a gold doping reaction.

In this study, 3,4-diaminobenzoic acid (DABA) was introduced into the porphyrin metal-organic framework (PCN-224) for the first time to prepare a ratiometric fluorescent probe (PCN-224-DABA) to quantitatively detect ferric iron (Fe(III)) and selenium (IV) (Se(IV)). The fluorescence attributed to the DABA of PCN-224-DABA at 345 nm can be selectively quenched by Fe(III) and Se(IV), but the fluorescence emission peak attributed to tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TCPP) at 475 nm will not be disturbed. Therefore, the ratio of I/I with an excitation wavelength of 270 nm can be designed to determine Fe(III) and Se(IV).
