Aims: An increase in psychosomatic symptoms among adolescents has recently been reported. Few studies have examined the relation between food intake and psychosomatic symptoms. The aim was to study the association between food intake and overall psychosomatic burden and separate psychosomatic symptoms.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we used data from 6248 girls and 7153 boys in south-east Sweden who turned 16 years of age during the academic years 2009/2010 to 2015/2016 and responded to a health questionnaire at the school health services. The association between overall healthy food intake and a low psychosomatic burden was calculated as odds ratios (95% confidence interval) and stratified for other lifestyle habits and gender.
Results: Sixty-nine per cent of the boys and 35% of the girls had a low psychosomatic burden. There was a positive association between an overall healthy food intake and a low psychosomatic burden (<0.0001), regardless of other lifestyle habits and gender. An overall healthy food intake was also positively associated with a lower frequency of the separate psychosomatic symptoms of concentration difficulties, sleep difficulties, a poor appetite or dizziness (<0.0001).
Conclusions: A healthy food intake seems to be associated with a low psychosomatic burden among adolescents. Further knowledge is needed to explore whether an improved food intake can reduce psychosomatic symptoms and enhance mental health.

Purpose: This study examined the effects of individualized dietary modifications based on the volume-viscosity swallow test (V-VST) on functional oral intake, incidence of pneumonia, and swallowing-related quality of life in individuals with intracerebral hemorrhage.
Methods: One hundred and seven participants with signs of dysphagia in the acute and early subacute phases of stroke following intracerebral hemorrhage were randomly assigned into an experimental group for individualized dietary modifications based on V-VST plus routine standard care (n = 53), and a control group for routine care alone (n = 54). Incidence of pneumonia, functional oral intake scale (FOIS) ratings and Eating Assessment Tool (EAT-10) scores before and after intervention were evaluated.

Background: Gastrointestinal illnesses are common during military training and operational deployments. We compared the incidence and burden of travellers' diarrhoea (TD) reported by British service personnel (SP) during recent training exercises in Kenya and Oman.
Methods: SP completed a validated anonymous questionnaire regarding clinical features of any diarrhoeal illness, associated risk factors and impact on work capability after 6-week training exercises in 2018 in Kenya and 2018-2019 in Oman.

Background And Aims: Chemotherapy is one of the treatments of choice for patients with hematological or head and neck neoplasms. However, chemotherapy promotes elevate occurrence of adverse events and many of them directly impact nutritional status and patients' quality of life, which may include a low treatment tolerance. Suggested mechanisms include inflammation and oxidative stress as contributing factors to adverse effects of chemotherapy.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different cold acclimation strategies on exercise performance in male mice exposed to low-temperature environments.
Methods: Male mice were subjected to five distinct acclimation regimens over 8 weeks: immersion at 10 °C (10 °CI) or 20 °C (20 °CI), swimming at 10 °C (10 °CS), 20 °C (20 °CS), or 34 °C (34 °CS). During the first 2 weeks, the acclimation time progressively decreased from 30 min to 3 min per day, and the water temperatures were lowered from 34 °C to the target levels, followed by 6 weeks of consistent exposure.
