Nature Communications, .

Published: April 2024

The chemical reduction of group 1 metal cations to their zero-valent species is challenging. Now, a bipyridine-stabilized borate anion joins the ranks of suitable reducing agents and also proves active in the two-electron reduction of CO.

To address the issues of infectious virus, bacterial secondary infections, skin pigmentation, and scarring caused by monkeypox virus (MPXV), a sprayable hydrogel with versatile functions was developed with comprehensive properties. Based on current research, the bioactive deep eutectic solvent (DES) of rosmarinic acid-proanthocyanidin-glycol (RPG) was designed and synthesized as active agent, and molecular docking was applied to discover its binding to MPXV proteins through H-bonds and van der Waals interactions, and the docking results show the binding energies between RA, PC, Gly and MPXV proteins are -58.7188, -50.

Scorpionate ligands have emerged as pivotal components in the field of coordination chemistry and catalysis since the seminal work by Trofimenko in the late 1960s. These species have demonstrated an extraordinarily rich tridentate coordination chemistry, enhancing the stability of metal complexes. In addition, they offer the possibility of modifying the chemical and electronical features as κ-ligands, providing a wide variety of potential substrates with multiple donor atoms.

Article Synopsis
  • - A new nonlinear-optical (NLO) crystal, called KLa(BO) (KLBO), has been developed to improve the performance of solid-state lasers in the deep-ultraviolet (DUV) region, addressing the limitations of the currently available KBeBOF (KBBF) due to its toxic ingredients and growth issues.
  • - KLBO is synthesized by substituting beryllium with rare-earth element lanthanum and features a unique three-dimensional structure that provides superior NLO properties, including an impressive response for second-harmonic generation and a UV-cutoff edge below 190 nm.
  • - The enhanced nonlinear optical performance of KLBO results from its distinct structural composition, particularly the [BO

Ionizing radiation from natural and many synthetic sources is a remarkable tool in many scientific, production, quality control, food preservation, medical, security, and other technological processes. The need to protect humans (public and personnel), gadgets, the environment, and animals from the harmful effects of radiation, while maintaining and expanding the scope of application has made radiation protection an important topic to discuss. Among the methods and materials available for radiation control, shielding and the use of glass shields are the most effective and attractive methods and materials, respectively.
