PSMA-PET/CT Findings in Patients With High-Risk Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer With No Metastatic Disease by Conventional Imaging.

JAMA Netw Open

January 2025

Ahmanson Translational Theranostics Division, Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles.

Importance: The phase 3 randomized EMBARK trial evaluated enzalutamide with or without leuprolide in high-risk nonmetastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. Eligibility relied on conventional imaging, which underdetects metastatic disease compared with prostate-specific membrane antigen-positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET).

Objective: To describe the staging information obtained by PSMA-PET/computed tomography (PSMA-PET/CT) in a patient cohort eligible for the EMBARK trial.

Introduction: Previous studies have examined the predictive accuracy of plasma amyloid beta (Aβ) biomarkers in clinical cohorts. However, their accuracy for predicting amyloid-positive patients in community-based cohorts is unclear. This study aimed to determine the predictive accuracy of Aβ precursor protein 669-711/Aβ1-42, Aβ1-40/1-42 and their composite biomarkers for brain amyloid deposition or the clinical progression in community-dwelling older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

Active phytoextraction of toluene shifts the microbiome and enhances degradation capacity in hybrid poplar.

J Environ Manage

December 2024

School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelph, 50 Stone Rd E, Guelph, ON, N1H 2W1, Canada. Electronic address:

Hybrid poplars are widely recognized for their effectiveness in remediating subsurface aromatic hydrocarbon contaminants, including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene isomers (BTEX). While BTEX compounds are frequently found in the transpiration streams of poplars at contaminated sites, the microbial dynamics within these trees, particularly in response to hydrocarbon exposure, remain underexplored. This study utilized high-throughput amplicon sequencing to investigate the trunk microbiome in hybrid poplars at a field-scale toluene phytoremediation site.

Gaining more from energy efficiency: The role of firms' environmental concerns.

J Environ Manage

December 2024

BRAC Business School, BRAC University, Kha-224, Bir Uttam Rafiqul Islam Avenue, Merul Badda, Dhaka, 1212, Bangladesh. Electronic address:

This study investigates the relationship between corporate energy efficiency (EE) and financial performance (FP), emphasizing the moderating role of environmental concerns. Grounded in the Enlightened Value Maximization (EVM) and Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) theories, the research hypothesizes that the EE-FP relationship strengthens in the presence of environmental concerns. Utilizing firm-level data, the analysis incorporates marginal effect analysis to explore how incremental improvements in environmental management and emissions management practices impact financial outcomes.

Research on cost and carbon reduction using the optimization of composite slabs modules based on bim technology.

Sci Rep

December 2024

China 19T'' Metallurgical Group Corporation Limited, 610039, Chengdu, China.

As one of the primary precast components in prefabricated construction, composite slabs have increasingly attracted interest for their costs as well as carbon footprint in production and installation stages. Conventional methods for separating composite slabs can lead to a building project necessitating multiple specifications of composite slabs. Due to the requirement to customize molds for different modulus of composite slabs, the production process experiences a substantial rise in energy consumption and resource waste.
