This case report explores the application of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as an autologous biomaterial in the surgical management of a periapical cyst in an 18-year-old female patient. The patient presented with pain, discoloration, and swelling in the maxillary left central incisor region, indicative of an asymptomatic periapical lesion associated with a history of trauma. Despite initial endodontic treatment with calcium hydroxide, the lesion persisted, necessitating surgical intervention.

This case report discusses the surgical management of an apical periodontal cyst in a 14-year-old male patient presenting with pain in the upper anterior jaw. The patient had a history of trauma to the upper anterior teeth, leading to the development of a radicular cyst involving teeth 11 and 12. The treatment plan included initial root canal therapy followed by surgical enucleation of the cyst, apicoectomy, and retrograde filling of the affected teeth.

Background/purpose: The retrograde filling material, particularly mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) employed in apicoectomy, should possess high antibacterial efficacy and osteogenic potential. We evaluated the antibacterial efficacy, biocompatibility, and osteogenic potential following the addition of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and calcium fluoride (CaF) in retrograde filling material of MTA.
Materials And Methods: MTA was mixed with four different solvents.

Objectives: The necessity of retrograde filling after apicoectomy is controversial in cases of non-inflammatory cysts as opposed to bacteria-related periapical abscesses. This study aims to investigate whether the presence or absence of retrograde filling during apicoectomy has differential long-term prognostic implications between inflammatory and non-inflammatory cysts.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included patients who underwent tooth apicoectomy during jaw cyst enucleation between 2013 and 2022, and who underwent follow-up cone-beam computed tomography for at least 6 months.

Background: Apical surgery with standard retrograde maneuvers may be challenging in certain cases. Simplifying apical surgery to reduce operating time and streamline retrograde manipulation is an emerging need in clinical endodontics.
Aim Of The Study: The aim of the study was to compare the bacterial sealing ability of a calcium silicate-based sealer with the single cone technique combined with root end resection only, and calcium silicate-based sealer as a retrograde filling versus MTA retrofilling, and to analyze bacterial viability using confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM).
