Medical practitioners are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots for easier and faster access to information. To our knowledge, the accuracy and availability of AI-generated chemotherapy protocols has not yet been studied. Nine simulated cancer patient cases were designed and AI chatbots, ChatGPT version 3.5 (OpenAI) and Bing (Microsoft), were used to generate chemotherapy protocols for each case. Generated chemotherapy protocols were compared with the original protocols for nine simulated cancer patients. ChatGPT's overall performance was 5 out of 9 on protocol generation, and Bing's was 4 out of 9; this was statistically nonsignificant (p = 1). AI chatbots show both potential and limitations in generating chemotherapy protocols. The overall performance is low, and they should be used carefully in oncological practice.

Liver injury in tuberculosis patients, associated with noncompliance with treatment, is further exacerbated by viral hepatitis, which not only directly harms the liver but also increases susceptibility to drug-induced liver injury. The aim of this study was to analyze the associated risk factors for viral hepatitis in tuberculosis patients. This systematic review and meta-analysis adhere to the PRISMA 2020 statement, and the protocol has been registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023477241).

Colon neoplasia is one of the major malignancies in industrialized countries due to their Western-style food habits. It accounts for more than 50% of the population developing adenomatous polyps by the age of 70 years, but 10% of cancers in developed countries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pathological role of the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4/stromal-derived factor 1 axis (CXCR4-SDF-1 axis), and the inhibitory molecules PD-1 and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) in postoperative colon cancer patients undergoing treatment with chemotherapy (oxaliplatin and capecitabine) and estimate the correlation between these studied factors to deeply understand the basic mechanisms and potential diagnostic or therapeutic effects.

It is unclear why differences in patient location change organisms causing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). We investigated VAP organisms in three geographically separate trauma intensive care units (TICUs). A retrospective review of organisms causing VAP (bronchoalveolar lavage [BAL] performed ≤7 d after admission and growing ≥10 cfu/mL) in three geographically separate TICUs was conducted.

Combination of rapamycin and adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells enhances therapeutic potential for osteoarthritis.

Background: The regenerative potential of mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) has been extensively studied in clinical trials in the past decade. However, despite the promising regenerative properties documented in preclinical studies, for instance in osteoarthritis (OA), the therapeutic translation of these results in patients has not been fully conclusive. One factor contributing to this therapeutic barrier could be the presence of senescent cells in OA joints.

Background: Mycobacterium bovis BCG is the human tuberculosis vaccine and is the oldest vaccine still in use today with over 4 billion people vaccinated since 1921. The BCG vaccine has also been investigated experimentally in cattle and wildlife by various routes including oral and parenteral. Thus far, oral vaccination studies of cattle have involved liquid BCG or liquid BCG incorporated into a lipid matrix.
