In recent years, there has been a surge in the publication of clinical trial reports, making it challenging to conduct systematic reviews. Automatically extracting Population, Intervention, Comparator, and Outcome (PICO) from clinical trial studies can alleviate the traditionally time-consuming process of manually scrutinizing systematic reviews. Existing approaches of PICO frame extraction involves supervised approach that relies on the existence of manually annotated data points in the form of BIO label tagging. Recent approaches, such as In-Context Learning (ICL), which has been shown to be effective for a number of downstream NLP tasks, require the use of labeled examples. In this work, we adopt ICL strategy by employing the pretrained knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), gathered during the pretraining phase of an LLM, to automatically extract the PICO-related terminologies from clinical trial documents in unsupervised set up to bypass the availability of large number of annotated data instances. Additionally, to showcase the highest effectiveness of LLM in oracle scenario where large number of annotated samples are available, we adopt the instruction tuning strategy by employing Low Rank Adaptation (LORA) to conduct the training of gigantic model in low resource environment for the PICO frame extraction task. More specifically, both of the proposed frameworks utilize AlpaCare as base LLM which employs both few-shot in-context learning and instruction tuning techniques to extract PICO-related terms from the clinical trial reports. We applied these approaches to the widely used coarse-grained datasets such as EBM-NLP, EBM-COMET and fine-grained datasets such as EBM-NLP and EBM-NLP. Our empirical results show that our proposed ICL-based framework produces comparable results on all the version of EBM-NLP datasets and the proposed instruction tuned version of our framework produces state-of-the-art results on all the different EBM-NLP datasets. Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Dendrobium officinale in the treatment of radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, and to explore its regulating effect on immune function and oral microbiota by comparing immune-related factors and oral microbiota before and after the intervention.
Methods: We conducted a randomized double-blinded controlled trial in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital. Sixty patients with nasopharyngeal cancer combined with radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis were randomly divided into a study group and control group, with 30 cases in each group The study group used compound vitamin B12 solution and Dendrobium tea drink, and the control group simply used compound vitamin B12 solution rinse.

Background: Prevention of depression, stress, and anxiety is a serious concern of the World Health Organization and has been a research topic over the last decades. There is a close association found between children's mental health problems and parental stress, valid for biological and foster families. Evidence suggests that parents with children with disabilities are more stressed, depressed, or anxious than parents who do not have such children.

Background: Diabetes mellitus and periodontitis are two common chronic diseases with bidirectional relationship. Considering the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of these two diseases, the use of nutritional supplements with antioxidant properties can be useful. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of daily synbiotic supplement in the management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and periodontal disease (PD) under non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT).

Background: The period before diagnostic and therapeutic procedures is associated with increased anxiety levels in patients due to a lack of sufficient information. This study aimed to determine the effect of education on physiological and psychological anxiety levels in patients before extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL).
Materials And Methods: This randomized clinical trial was conducted at Baharloo Hospital in Tehran on 122 patients, and the samples were selected in two stages.

Purpose: Prophylaxis with recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII) products is the gold-standard treatment for hemophilia A. However, interindividual differences affect the half-life and clearance of rFVIII products. The myPKFiT is a web-based medical-device software program for population pharmacokinetic (PK) simulation of FVIII products to guide accurate FVIII doses and dosing intervals.
