Objective: To develop a highly informative method for predicting the course of early postoperative period in urgent abdominal surgery based on indicators of lipid metabolism.

Material And Methods: We analyzed 113 patients with acute surgical abdominal disease including 56 (49.6%) ones with acute appendicitis complicated by peritonitis, 23 (20.4%) ones with acute intestinal obstruction complicated by peritonitis and 34 (30.0%) patients with acute moderate pancreatitis (early phase). Leukocyte count, malondialdehyde, medium-weight molecules and lipid composition (phospholipid lysoforms) were analyzed throughout a 5-day period. Considering these data, we developed a method for predicting the course of early postoperative period (patent).

Results: Original method is highly effective in predicting the course of early postoperative period in urgent abdominal diseases. Sensitivity and specificity of this method for acute abdominal diseases complicated by acute peritonitis are 94.7% and >86.3%, for acute pancreatitis - 92.7 and 85.4%, respectively.

Conclusion: Efficacy of original method is determined by analysis of catabolic phenomena, i.e. indicators of tissue destruction. Of course, assessment of endogenous intoxication whose toxins are components of catabolic (membrane-destructive) processes is essential.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) show optimal treatment effects on recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma(R/M NPC). Nonetheless, whether metastatic sites impact ICIs efficacy remains unclear.

Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of R/M NPC patients treated with KL-A167, a programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1) inhibitor, based on a multicenter, single-arm, phase II study from China between 2019 and 2021 years, which represents the first and most comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of a PD-L1 inhibitor in patients who have been previously treated.

Introduction: AIM: The aim of the study is to determine the optimal timing for surgery in patients with small bowel duplications.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study, including all patients younger than 18 years who were diagnosed with small bowel duplications from 2013 until 2024 in a single tertiary medical center, was performed. Patients' demographics, duplication size and location, pathological results, and clinical outcomes were collected.

Aim: To assess recent colonoscopies and CT scans in conjunction with the feacal immunochemical test (FIT) for possibly downgrading urgent suspected cancer (USC) referrals.

Methods:  A retrospective single-centre study was conducted, including all USC referrals for colonoscopy in 2022, excluding anal cancers. The CT and colonoscopy findings for a two-year period prior to the referral, along with the FIT result (if done), were noted.

A 55-year-old female attended the Outpatient Urology Department for local anaesthetic flexible cystoscopy and intradetrusor botulinum toxin A injection. Having been diagnosed with urodynamics-proven low-grade detrusor overactivity in 2017, she was well-established on six-monthly Botox® injections. As part of her ongoing treatment, 100 units of Allergan Botox diluted with saline in a 10 mL syringe were injected via 20 punctures.

Introduction: Retroperitoneal hematoma with ongoing hemorrhage is a rare but critical condition following blunt abdominal trauma, requiring urgent evaluation and management. This case details a large retroperitoneal hematoma in the right iliac fossa caused by a rupture of the deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA), successfully treated with transcatheter arterial embolization.

Case Description: A 66-year-old female presented to our hospital six hours after an electric tricycle accident with dizziness, fatigue, hypotension (80/50 mmHg), and tachycardia (105 beats/min).
