Improving the humification of compost through a synergistic approach of biotic and abiotic methods is of great significance. This study employed a composite reagent, comprising Fenton-like agents and effective microorganisms (EM) to improve humification. This composite reagent increased humic-acid production by 37.44 %, reaching 39.82 g kg, surpassing the control group. The composite reagent synergistically promoted micromolecular fulvic acid and large humic acid production. Collaborative mechanism suggests that Fenton-like agents contributed to bulk residue decomposition and stimulated the evolution of microbial communities, whereas EMs promoted highly aromatic substance synthesis and adjusted the microbial community structure. Sequencing analysis indicates the Fenton-like agent initiated compost decomposition by Firmicutes, and EM reduced the abundance of Virgibacillus, Lentibacillus, and Alcanivorax. Applied as an organic fertilizer in Brassica chinensis L. plantations, the composite reagent considerably improved growth and photosynthetic pigment content. This composite reagent with biotic and abiotic components provides a learnable method for promoting humification.

This study demonstrates the potential of secondary aluminum dross (SAD) to enhance the vitrifying hazardous waste incineration fly ash (FA) and bottom slag (BS). Based on the CaO-SiO-AlO ternary phase diagram, a liquid phase can be achieved at relatively low temperatures by carefully adjusting the AlO content, particularly when the CaO to SiO ratio is around 0.66.

The non-invasive detection of crack/cocaine and other bioactive compounds from its pyrolysis in saliva can provide an alternative for drug analysis in forensic toxicology. Therefore, a highly sensitive, fast, reagent-free, and sustainable approach with a non-invasive specimen is relevant in public health. In this animal model study, we evaluated the effects of exposure to smoke crack cocaine on salivary flow, salivary gland weight, and salivary composition using Attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy.

The purpose of this study is to construct a muscle-specific synthetic promoter library, screen out muscle-specific promoters with high activity, analyze the relationship between element composition and activity of highly active promoters, and provide a theoretical basis for artificial synthesis of promoters. In this study, 19 promoter fragments derived from muscle-specific elements, conserved elements, and viral regulatory sequences were selected and randomLy connected to construct a muscle-specific synthetic promoter library. The luciferase plasmids pCMV-Luc and pSPs-Luc were constructed and transfected into the myoblast cell line C2C12.

Background And Aims: While glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) effectively reduce body weight, their impact on lean mass remains uncertain. This meta-analysis evaluated the effects of GLP-1RAs and GLP-1/GIP receptor dual agonists (GLP-1/GIP-RAs) on body composition, focusing on total weight, fat mass, and lean mass in adults with diabetes and/or overweight/obesity.

Methods: A systematic search of Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane Library was conducted through November 12, 2024.

Co-doped ZIF-8 as a water-stable visible light photocatalyst was prepared by using a one-pot, fast, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly method. The band structure of ZIF-8 was tuned through the incorporation of different percentages of cobalt to attain an optimal band gap ( ) that enables the activation of ZIF-8 under visible light and minimizes the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers. A magnetic composite of Co-doped ZIF-8 was also synthesized to facilitate catalyst recycling and reusability through the application of an external magnetic field.
