Exploring daidzein dimethyl ether from Albizzia lebbeck as a novel quorum sensing inhibitor against Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Insights from in vitro and in vivo studies.

Bioorg Chem

January 2025

Helmholtz International Lab for Anti-Infectives, State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, Shandong University, Qingdao, Shandong 266237, China. Electronic address:

Infections of multidrug-resistant pathogens including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, cause a high risk of mortality in immunocompromised patients and underscore the need for novel natural antibacterial drugs. In this study, common phytochemicals prevalent in fruits and vegetables have been demonstrated for their ability to inhibit quorum sensing (QS) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 (PA). Ten compounds were screened virtually by molecular docking, among which, daidzein dimethyl ether originally from Albizzia lebbeck showed the most significant inhibitory effect on the formation of biofilm and the accumulation of virulence factors, including elastase, pyocyanin and rhamnolipid in PA.

Rheum tanguticum, an endemic species from the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, is a significant perennial and medicinal plant recognized for its robust resistance to abiotic stresses, including drought, cold, and salinity. To advance the understanding of stress-response mechanisms in R. tanguticum, this study aimed to establish a reliable set of housekeeping genes as references for normalizing RT-qPCR gene expression analyses.

A Comprehensive Atlas of AAV Tropism in the Mouse.

Mol Ther

January 2025

Department of Integrative Physiology, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX 77030, USA. Electronic address:

Gene therapy with Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors requires knowledge of their tropism within the body. Here we analyze the tropism of ten naturally occurring AAV serotypes (AAV3B, AAV4, AAV5, AAV6, AAV7, AAV8, AAV9, AAVrh8, AAVrh10 and AAVrh74) following systemic delivery into male and female mice. A transgene expressing ZsGreen and Cre recombinase was used to identify transduction in a cell-dependent manner based on fluorescence.

This study aimed to investigate the role of myosteatosis, sarcopenia, and perioperative serum biomarkers as independent predictors of major complications within 180 days following radical cystectomy (RC) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). We retrospectively analyzed of 127 MIBC patients who underwent RC between 2013 and 2023 at a single institution. Preoperative body composition was assessed using CT scans at the L3 vertebral level to measure psoas muscle density (PMD), skeletal muscle density (SMD), axial muscle density (AMD), and muscle indices.

Exploring the mechanism and drug candidates of alveolar echinococcosis affecting liver fibrosis through analysis of existing microarray data.

Acta Trop

January 2025

Department of Department of Anesthesiology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, No. 137, South Liyushan Road, Xinshi District, Urumqi, Xinjiang, 830054, China; Xinjiang Perioperative Organ Protection Laboratory, No. 137, South Liyushan Road, Xinshi District, Urumqi, Xinjiang, 830054, China. Electronic address:

Echinococcosis, a zoonotic disease, significantly impacts the liver, with alveolar echinococcosis (AE) often leading to liver fibrosis and, in severe cases, cirrhosis. However, the molecular mechanisms by which AE infection promotes liver fibrosis remain incompletely understood. This study utilized bioinformatic analysis of existing microarray data to explore the shared mechanisms between AE and liver fibrosis and to identify potential therapeutic drug candidates.
