Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the assessment of the application for renewal of DSM 21982 as a technological feed additive, silage additive, for all animal species. The applicant has provided evidence that the additive currently on the market complies with the existing conditions of authorisation. The Panel concluded that the additive remains safe for all animal species, consumers and the environment. Regarding user safety, the additive should be considered as a skin and respiratory sensitiser. No conclusions can be drawn on the eye irritancy potential of the additive. There is no need for assessing the efficacy of the additive in the context of the renewal of the authorisation.

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is the occurrence of two or more consecutive miscarriages before 20 weeks of gestation. Recent research has increasingly focused on the role of oxidative stress in RPL, providing insights into its underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets. Oxidative stress arises from an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and antioxidant defenses, leading to cellular damage and inflammation.

Sevoflurane's potential impact on cognitive function and neurodevelopment, especially in susceptible populations such as infants and the elderly, has raised widespread concern. This study focuses on how sevoflurane induces ferroptosis in astrocytes and identifies solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) as a mediator of ferroptosis, providing new insights into sevoflurane-related neurotoxic pathways. We analysed single-cell sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from sevoflurane-exposed mice and control mice, supplemented with bulk RNA-seq data, to assess gene expression alterations.

Studying teratological abnormalities in ticks are taxonomically important because this poorly understood biological phenomenon causes difficulties in tick's identification. Globally, reports regarding these abnormalities in ticks, reasons of their causes and their impacts are scarce. According to the available published data, there are no studies regarding teratological abnormalities in ticks from Pakistan.

China's Three-North Protective Forest Program (TNP) is the world's most ambitious afforestation project (ongoing from 1978 to 2050), which aims to increase forest coverage through afforestation and reforestation, protect agriculture, reduce soil erosion, and control desertification. Although TNP has been ongoing for 45 years, its rationales and effects remain uncertain. Here, we conducted a range-wide assessment of TNP by analyzing data from >10,000 scenes of satellite images and >50,000 field survey plots.

Optogenetics often requires genetic modification of the target cells to enable the expression of specific optogenetic tools, making it difficult to study primary cells in their native state. We have recently generated a fully extracellular optogenetic system for reversible light control of T cell receptor (TCR) activation on murine naïve T cells, a cell model that is very difficult to manipulate genetically. This molecular system is very versatile and can be easily modified to study different cell systems in different species.
