Correlation between maxillary defect and facial asymmetry.

Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg

January 2025

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Beijing, China; National Engineering Laboratory for Digital and Material Technology of Stomatology, Beijing, China; National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between maxillary defects and facial asymmetry, and to establish categories for visual perception of facial asymmetry. The facial data of 47 patients who underwent maxillary resection due to tumors were captured using stereophotogrammetry. Facial asymmetry was measured using a landmark-independent method and assessed with a Likert scale.

The impacts of air pollution, local climate, and urbanization on human health have been well-documented in recent studies. In this study, we combined magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain analysis with a questionnaire survey on the local environment in 141 healthy middle-aged men and women. Our findings reveal that a favorable environment is positively correlated with gray matter volume (GMV) in the frontal and occipital lobes, cerebellum, and whole brain, as well as with fractional anisotropy (FA) in the fornix (including the fornix stria terminalis), posterior thalamic radiation (PTR), sagittal stratum (SS), and whole brain.

Congenital platelet disorders are rare and targeted treatment is usually not possible. Inherited platelet function disorders (iPFDs) can affect surface receptors and multiple platelet responses such as defects of platelet granules, signal transduction, and procoagulant activity. If iPFDs are also associated with a reduced platelet count (thrombocytopenia), it is not uncommon to be misdiagnosed as immune thrombocytopenia.

Unlabelled: TKA is routinely done orthopaedic procedure done that aims at improving the quality of patients' life by providing pain relief, functional improvement and deformity correction. This study aims to study the efficacy and safety of a Periarticular analgesic cocktail including ropivacaine injection and epidural ropivacaine for early rehabilitation after a total knee replacement.

Methods: Total of 100 patients divided into two groups, one group received epidural ropivacaine and second group given periarticular cocktail containing ropivacaine.
