Background: The Self-Care of Heart Failure Index (SCHFI) is a widely used instrument used to measure self-care in both research and clinical settings. The lack of a psychometric evaluation of the traditional Chinese version of the SCHFI (SCHFI-C) might limit its utilization in non-Mainland Chinese populations such as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the SCHFI-C v.7.2.
Methods: Participants included 365 adults with heart failure. Breslin's method of translation was used to translate the SCHFI v.7.2 into traditional Chinese. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to examine the dimensionality structure of each scale. Then, composite reliability was calculated to assess the reliability of 3 scales. Construct validity was examined by hypothesis testing and known-group comparisons.
Results: The results of exploratory factor analysis suggest its multidimensionality of each scale. More specifically, the findings indicated a unique internal structure of the self-care maintenance ("lifestyle-related behaviors" and "consulting behaviors") and self-care management ("self-reliance behaviors" and "help-seeking behaviors") scales. The composite reliability of 3 scales were 0.81, 0.88, and 0.82, respectively, reaching adequate level. As for construct validity, the significant associations between the 3 SCHFI domains and self-care confidence as well as significant group difference among patients of different ages and educational backgrounds supported good construct validity.
Conclusions: This study provides evidence of the reliability and validity of the SCHFI-C v.7.2. The traditional SCHFI-C v.7.2 can serve as a valid and reliable outcome measure to evaluate the effects of self-care-promoting interventions.

Background: The Prickle2 (Pk2) gene shows promising potential in uncovering the underlying causes of epilepsy, a neurological disorder that is currently not well understood. This paper utilizes the online tool PubMed to gather and condense information on the involvement of PCP channels and the associated roles of PCP pathway molecules in the onset of epilepsy. These findings are significant for advancing epilepsy treatment.

Objectives: The pathogenesis of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) not only affects the ovarian structure and function but also gives rise to complications such as osteoporosis and dyslipidemia. Although low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) has been proven effective in treating POI, its impact on the associated complications remains unexplored. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of LIPUS irradiation on osteoporosis and dyslipidemia in a mouse model of POI.

The metabolic pathway of aerobic glycolysis in tumor cells has garnered significant attention in tumor research because of its high activation in cancer cells. Previous research conducted by our team has demonstrated that Apolipoprotein M (APOM) exhibits potential as a factor against liver cancer. However, further investigations are needed to elucidate the precise approach and mechanism that are involved in this process.

Quaternary ammonium salts (QAs) are a class of highly active compounds widely used in medicine and agriculture. However, many QAs lack a conjugated system, making their recognition and quantitation challenging. Stachydrine is a representative unconjugated QA with a high content in Houtt.

Inflammation, a central process in numerous diseases, plays a crucial role in hepatic disorders, arthritis, cardiac conditions, and neurodegenerative ailments. Given the lack of effective anti-inflammatory drugs, it is imperative to assess inflammation severity and explore novel therapeutics. Selenocysteine (Sec), a key mediator of selenium's biological function, is closely involved in anti-inflammatory responses.
