Primal world beliefs ("primals") capture individuals' basic understanding of what sort of world this is. How do children develop beliefs about the nature of the world? Is the world a good place? Safe or dangerous? Enticing or dull? Primals were initially introduced in social and personality psychology to understand beliefs about the world as a whole that may influence well-being and personality. This article introduces the concept of primals to developmental scientists and reviews preliminary research examining how primals relate to sociodemographic and well-being indicators.

Background: Maternal mortality remains high in sub-Saharan Africa, with little progress made in the last 20 years. The provision of emergency obstetric care has been shown to have the greatest effect in reducing maternal mortality in countries with high maternal mortality ratios, especially when paired with an emergency transport service. Integrate Health has partnered with the Togolese Ministry of Health to improve maternal and child health via the integration of a free ambulance service into a pre-existing primary care model.

Background And Aim: Since 1996, 38 US states have legalized access to cannabis (medical and/or adult-use recreational). We aimed to estimate the effect of three dimensions of state cannabis policy design - pharmaceutical, permissive and fiscal - on levels of overall, alcohol-impaired, occupant, light truck and pedestrian fatality rates.
