Ecological density dependence theory argues that organizational founding rates have an inverted U-shaped relationship with density (the number of organizations already present). This study develops this theory by showing how the "density dependent" curve is moderated by continually expanding/contracting opportunities among religious movement organizations. Using event-history analyses, I investigate how the rate at which transnational American Protestant mission agencies found new ministries internationally is influenced simultaneously by density and continuous expansion/contraction of a country's Protestant market share (i.e., "monotonic market change"). Results show that as Protestant market share increases from continuous years of contraction to expansion, the peak founding rate of the density curve changes non-monotonically while the density at this peak rate increases monotonically. The study concludes by considering how a theory of monotonic market change may contribute to the study of religious as well as secular movement organizations and nonprofits more broadly.

We report xerogels prepared from TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofiber (Ox-CNF) that have enhanced yield stresses and Young's Modulus (E) up to 15.4 MPa. The xerogels were highly porous (>95 %) and were measured by density determination, SEM, Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) experiments, and microCT analysis.

This study investigates the potential of the plate-shaped Zn-22 wt.% Al (Zn-22Al) alloy as an innovative energy dissipation material for seismic damping devices, since plate-shaped material is more suitable to fabricate large-scale devices for building structures. The research begins with the synthesis of Zn-22Al alloy, given its unavailability in the commercial market.

To ensure uncertainty in match outcomes, professional sporting leagues have used various competitive balance policies, including player salary caps, revenue sharing among teams and player drafts. The Australian Football League (AFL) introduced a player draft in 1986, and to refine its operation, a draft value index (DVI) was introduced in 2015. The DVI allocates a numeric value to each individual player draft pick, with these values determined by the AFL using historic player compensation or wage and salary data.

Though player drafts have commonly been utilised to equitably disperse amateur talent and avoid bidding wars, often they have also been accused of creating a monopsony labour market which restricts player movement. Within the Australian Football League (AFL) some have called for the increase of the initial draftee contract from two to three seasons, which further pushes the envelope on monopsony power. Instead of increasing the contract length, this paper suggests a call option to be purchased by the teams allowing them to add a further season to the draftee contract at a predetermined compensation package should they choose to do so at the end of the initial contract.
