Nurses play key roles in dealing with pandemics yet are often conceived solely as "technical" experts without political agency. This study conducts the first global comparative analysis of COVID-19-related protests of nurses and other frontline health workers, with a focus on the first 18 months of the pandemic. We draw on quantitative and qualitative data on nurses' protests and protest drivers.

Background: Contraceptive usage in Ethiopia is significantly influenced by the decision-maker at the household level. Joint decision-making involving both women and their husbands/partners is considered ideal for improving contraceptive uptake among women and for managing health outcomes related to contraceptive side effects. However, there is a lack of substantial evidence regarding the prevalence and impact of joint decision-making on contraceptive use in Ethiopia.

Racial disparities arise across many vital areas of American life, including employment, health, and interpersonal treatment. For example, one in three Black children lives in poverty (versus one in nine white children), and, on average, Black Americans live four fewer years compared with white Americans. Which disparity is more likely to spark reduction efforts? We find that highlighting disparities in health-related (versus economic) outcomes spurs greater social media engagement and support for disparity-mitigating policy.
